With the awards season slowly upon us, news comes from Britain that Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix has been included in the British Academy Film Awards (BAFTA’s
) longlists for this year in six categories.
The fifth movie in the franchise is included in the following categories:
Adapted screenplay
Make up & hair
Special visual effects
Sound
Costume design
Production design
The BAFTA longlists
include 15 movies in each category, from which five nominees will be chosen in the second round of voting, which closes January 14th.
Additionally, the Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street movie starring Harry Potter alumni Alan Rickman, Helena Bonham Carter and Timothy Spall has been included in nine categories.
The awards ceremony will be held on Sunday, February 10th at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden in London.

Wow six categories! however the film did have some bad special effects like Grawp and the centuars but everything else was great.

That's quite a list of categories. Hopefully the film will win at least one. I thought it was pretty good as a movie. The effects were amazing.

I find it interesting they got a hair and make-up nod I mean LV's nose is computer generated. I guess Hagrid and Dumbledore's beards and hair are fake. As well as other characters. Maybe the HP films will get acknowledged in the Oscars after DH comes out Lord of the Rings did not win big until the last one came out.

OotP might not scrape through the next round in any of these departments save the last one, production design. To be frank, I have been disappointed by the last three movies' special effects and costumes. They were so worth-believing in the first two movies. Like it was an entirely different world, but now the gap between the real world and that world is closing in.
