Actor Daniel Radcliffe has purchased a $4.9 million condo
at a prestigious building in Manhattan, according to city deed records released today.
The 18-year-old star of the hugely successful Harry Potter films from Warner Bros. intends to live there at least partially, instead of renting it out as he has been doing with another apartment he bought in November, reported
The New York Times in February, citing "several people briefed on the deal."
Radcliffe's new pad is a luxuriously appointed penthouse featuring curved windows facing the Hudson River, complete with marble and granite surfaces and a 500-bottle wine cellar. The Times cited public real estate listings as the source of such details. (Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen own a unit in the same building, and pictures online
might offer a glimpse into the kind of apartment Radcliffe purchased. Other
photos
of smaller units in the building are also available.)
The actor will be reprising his role in Equus for a Broadway production in New York later this year, following a successful run on London's West End last year.

I don't want to sound like I am not thankful for having a roof over my head..but it must be nice to have a lot of money. You don't have to worry about if you can afford paying the bills.
But anyway, looking at the pictures it looks gorgeous!I live only about twenty minutes from there.

MWbashfulAR says:
I think it's amazing that he is now living on his own and preparing for his time on Broadway. There used to be the day when he was still being carted around with his parents and he couldn't really go anywhere or do anything without his father. But now that he has access to his money, he's investing and making decisions on his own and living on his own. Now since his father normally follows him around anyhow, I wouldn't be surprised if he'll have his father living with him for some of the time. That would make sense. But this seems like the first legitimate freedom as an adult Dan is getting, somewhat like when people go off to college, only even more so because he doesn't have the college dorm support system - this is even more independent.
I hope he continues to make the right decisions and that he learns only from the best people. The last thing he needs is to go downstairs and meet the Olsen twins or anyone they might know.

My goodness. Was it really necessary to buy a place costing nearly $5 million? Come on. He's meant to be a down to earth guy... this doesn't really support it. He could've bought a nice place for less and given a large sum of that money to something worthwhile if he was so intent on spending that much.
Ah well, I suppose it's his money he can do what he wants. Still, not impressed.

I have a feeling that when Equus comes to New York, my hobby for those 6 months is waiting outside one of those 2 appartments that he has, waiting for him to walk out so I can get an autograph, a picture with him and some nice video showing that I met Dan.
I still can't believe Equus is coming here, and that he's going to be living in the US, so close to us US fans, so close to me! Now if only Rupert would get an acting job in NYC...that would be too much to handle.

I love the apartment! Lucky Dan. Not too sure about the neighbours but the apartment is lovely. Who wouldn't want a 500 bottle wine cellar?! Even if you didn't drink wine it would still be cool to have.

I would think he will keep the apartment as a long term investment, rather than just a 6 month stay during the run of the play.

At least "six months"--he said in that interview--at the
awards ceramony a couple of weeks ago--both
Ryan Seacrest and Lyons talked to him about Equus and moving to NYC .
He said he had only spent a couple of weeks before in NYC ,
this was a little scary.[New adventures always are]
He will do great and love NY --wait and see.
