Emma Watson to star in period drama

It is being reported
this morning that Harry Potter actress Emma Watson has signed on to star in Napoleon and Betsy, a period drama being written and directed by Benjamin Ross which hopes to film in the fall.
According to the article:
Watson will play Betsy Balcombe, a young, impetuous noblewoman trapped on the isolated British Isle of St. Helena who falls in love with Napoleon, who is in exile on the island.
Watson is filling the shoes recently vacated by Scarlett Johansson, who stepped aside as the part skewed younger.

Oh how nice. I'm pretty much game for any film that features the potter trio. Emma's gone a long way as an actress and i'm just excited to see more of her outside of the potter franchise

This role sounds like a good choice for Emma. The historical drama will give her more range and show that she is more than just Hermione. It sounds like it will be an intersting film (normally I am not a fan of romances but when they are hidden in historical movies I am a sucker for them!)

I am really happy to see that Emma is taking other roles, I think it is important for her career that she steps out of the Potter Universe and takes on other roles, that way she won't get type casted later on when the Potter movies are done. :)

Well that sounds interesting I hope it does well, though I am still unsure if it is a film or TV drama but anyway congratulations for her!!! I'm sure she will do the part well. Also really sweet they she is the voice of Princess Pea in the animated film "The Tale of Despereaux, it is so nice that she is involved in lots of very different types of acting work too.

I am really excited to see Emma in something outside the HP franchise (I haven't seen Ballet Shoes here in the states). I don't particularly like the Hermione in the films (but I blame that on the writers and directors). I want to see her in something else to judge her acting abilities and see her stretch her acting wings like Rupert and Daniel.
