The Becker Group and Warner Bros. Consumer Products announced
today that it will bring worldwide Harry Potter: The Exhibition, highlighting artifacts from the Warner Bros. films based on J.K. Rowling's franchise. The exhibit will premiere in Spring 2009 in "a major market," and will appear in ten or more cities around the world throughout a five-year span.
UPDATE: The official site
is now online.
UPDATE II: Chicago's Museum of Science and Industry has been announced as the premiere venue of the exhibition, which will run from April 30 through September 7, 2009 before continuing its tour.
According to the release:
Harry Potter: The Exhibition will include elaborate displays of authentic costumes, props and artifacts from popular environments featured in the films such as those from Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, including the Gryffindor common room and Hagrid's hut. During its run, the exhibit will also be updated to include artifacts from the final installments of the Harry Potter film series. The exhibition will be displayed in major cultural and entertainment venues, museums and institutions, and will be supported by a multimedia promotional effort and advance ticket sales worldwide. Tour information, updates and ticket availability will be posted at www.harrypotterexhibition.com as details become available, or for more information, call 866-231-8328.
Brad Globe, president Warner Bros. Consumer Products added:
Fans around the world will finally be able to see the incredible craftsmanship and detail that went into creating their favorite props and costumes.

Great idea, I hope they will conider doing this in France. Otherwise I sshould be in England next year, so it might not be too hard to move to an exhibition. If it ever comes to France, I would suggest the Louvre, right next to the Mona Lisa, so she'll have one good reason to smile.
Aurora7, it would be really inconsiderate not to organize an exhibition in Edinburgh.

Oh, now this will be terrific fun! Be very cool indeed to see the costumes up close (for DIY purposes, too!). Despite the Ravenclaw colors being wrong. Still a little bitter on that one. :-P

Wow that'll be cool to see. HP has really become an important cultural phenomenon. I don't think any of us who've been fans for the past 10 years ever could have thought that the series would become this huge at that point. Can't wait!
