JK Rowling's book The Tales of Beedle the Bard is set to be published
for fans on December 4, 2008.
According to Ms. Rowling's web site the proceeds of the sale will benefit the Children's High Level Group
which she co-founded in 2005.
Says Rowling
:
There was understandable disappointment among Harry Potter fans when only one copy of The Tales of Beedle the Bard was offered to the public last December. I am therefore delighted to announce that, thanks to the generous support of Bloomsbury, Scholastic and Amazon (who bought the handwritten copy at auction) - and with the blessing of the wonderful people who own the other six original books - The Tales of Beedle the Bard will now be widely available to all Harry Potter fans. Royalties will be donated to the Children's High Level Group, to benefit institutionalised children in desperate need of a voice. The new edition will include the Tales
You can pre-order the collector's edition:
UPDATE: You can now read additional
information on what will be in the book thanks to Scholastic, the U.S. publishers of the Harry Potter series.
Thanks to everyone who emailed.

Lets hope the raise a lot of money. (And lets face it, the chance of these not selling like hot cakes is remote!)
Good work to everyone involved.

Wow that'd be great!
Although I could never read it over here in Australia because we don't have a Barnes & Noble.
Why can't she just print it out like her "Quidditch Through the Ages" and "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" books.

Wow, I'm glad she decided not to put her crazed fans through the torture of not being able to read the book that was previously only available to a few people! I (as well as many others, obviously) was very disappointed by that decision, and it's great that she took that into account! I will definitely be pre-ordering the book as soon as possible. :D

Ahh, I desperately want the collector's, it looks amazing. I'm going to have to settle for the standard copy though, there's no way I can afford the collector's.

YAY! So excited for this to come out, ordered the collectors edition yesterday- I'll be telling my husband in a few months oh don't worry about my christmas present, you already bought it for me! Thanks! Probably will get standard too, so when I want to read it on the train, an airplane, or in the lunchroom at work I don't have to worry about wrecking the collectors edition.

Got yours ordered yet? Only 100,000 of the delux edition being printed. Is that 100,000 in UK and 100,000 in US or 50/50? Makes one wonder . . .

I'd really like to get one of those - but getting the Collector's Edition? I don't think I could bring myself to pay $100 for that book... an old book, or a collector's item, heck yeh... but this is just a fancy, new book. Seems a waste in the current economy.
Anyway, I'm going to get the Hardcover copy and enjoy paying $8 for it!

The price of the deluxe edition is absolutely rediculous. I got an email from amazon, and it said those tales will be sold there. I wanted the deluxe edition so bad, my mom said I could pre-order it, but then I looked at the price. $100, that's a bit much. The regular edition is $8. That's a big difference.
But, you guys just reminded me about Christmas. Maybe I can get the deluxe edition for Christmas, so I don't have to pre-order it right now.
