Alan Horn, president of Warner Bros., has issued a statement for fans in direct response to criticism of the company's choice to delay the release of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince until next July.
He says:
Many of you have written to me to express your disappointment in our moving Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince to Summer 2009.
Please be assured that we share your love for Harry Potter and would certainly never do anything to hurt any of the films. Over the past 10 years, we have nurtured and protected each film, and the integrity of the books upon which they are based, to the best of our ability.
The decision to move Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince was not taken lightly, and was never intended to upset our Harry Potter fans. We know you have built this series into what it is, and we thank you for your ongoing enthusiasm and support.
If I may offer a silver lining: there would have been a two-year gap between Half-Blood Prince and the much-anticipated first part of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, which opens in November 2010.
So although we have to wait a little longer for Half-Blood Prince, the wait from that film until Deathly Hallows will be less than 18 months. I am sorry to have disappointed you now, but if you hold on a little longer, I believe it will be worth the wait.Alan Horn
President, Chief Operating Officer
Warner Bros.

That response to Harry Potter fans is total inadequate. Mr. Alan Horn cannot believe that his cavalier disregard of the fans upset was going to be accepted by us. He has just managed to make the majority of us madder. Ohhhhhh how my blood boils just thinking about it. I wish I could cast Ginny's infamous bat bogey hex on Mr. Horn!

It still seems like a load of Bull to me. I understand some points he has to make and everything, but when he starts on about how he "Cares" for Harry Potter and all of Jo's Books. It's like "Yeah right, your a huge company... is it even possible to care?"

Well, Mr. Alan Horn,
Bravo.
NOT ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !
We are still ALL disappointed and for being quite honest, we were ALL looking forwards towards Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince and, now, we wait till 2009.
Of course we are ALL po'd off at you and Warner Bros. for doing this.
You are just writing back because, you are saying crap like, "Oh yes, I am rich, money for me, hahahaha."
"integrity of the books upon which they are based, to the best of our ability." ((What the heck is that suppose to mean?!
... Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix was HORRIBLE.
"The decision to move Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince was not taken lightly, and was never intended to upset our Harry Potter fans."
... Well, guess what?! IT DID! Just read your mail. Probably, I mean, EVERY SINGLE HARRY POTTER FAN CAN'T STAND THIS CRAP YOU ARE GIVING US!
Even, the children probably cried and you don't even care because you want Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince to come out whenever you feel like it.
"Our enthusiam and support"
... You know what?! Do us a favor, our support to you, stop sending us pathetic, useless mail and top it off, the pictures.
Some of us don't even care anymore.
We are STILL angry.
"But if you hold on a little longer, I believe it will be worth the wait."
... Yeah, okay, hard to believe. It was worth the wait for November and December but, now, whatever.
I am sorry I wrote a lot but, I just had to get that off my chest. I am still angry and upset about this.
And, I am sure all of you guys and ladies as well.
Now, we are all going to remember this movie and say, this is the one we wait forever for.

Well he sounds sincere, right? I don't know I was so excited it was right near my birthday just like Sorcerers Stone. It is incredibly late in the game to be disappointing everyone like this... gah

And THAT explanation does not satisfy me. Truth is they're greedy and I sincerely hope that all their efforts to rake in more money fail miserably.

Apparently, Alan Horn is an idiot. The reason "Dark Knight" was so successful had more to do with the untimely death of Heath Ledger, and the fact that it was his last film, than with its summer release date.
If they wanted to release HBP when more people are likely to go see it, why not move it to the Christmas holidays when kids are out of school. I never have understood the November release. What, exactly, is the significsnce of November 21?
How do we know that, when the time comes to release DH in November of 2009, that they won't decide to move it to the following summer, as well?

*laughs* It's so humorous reading the comments to this post. I'm still doing my reading back to figure out exactly when and why they decided to postpone an already finished and highly anticipated movie nearly a year. But the whole idea of it being to shorten the interval between movie 6 and movie 7 sounds like the fattest, thickest bag of crap.

Lovely "silver lining" that Alan Horn points out. First of all, saying this patronizes fans to make us feel as if we're a bunch of children that need to be consoled.
Also, now that they moved HBP I have absolutely no faith that they're gonna really keep the DH release date. Isn't that in November as well?....
