In a recent interview
David Heyman spoke more about the delay of the Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince movie. As well as telling us that the film is complete, although they are adding one small change to it soon.
It's a shame and it's frustrating in a sense as any creative person," he continued. "It's nice to put what you've done behind you before you move onto the next and this is still lingering over us until July next year, but also, we'll have to take a week off shooting to do publicity, which is a little bit disruptive. It's not ideal but at the same time, I fully support it, because as I say, they give us the freedom to make these films, and they pay a lot of money.
He also added some insight into the process of making a Harry Potter film and dealing with Warner Brothers:
They (Warner Brothers) give us the money, they read a draft of the script. I choose the director, we make the film, they come and visit. We show them a cut of the film, they say they like it, they give us some notes, we make the changes that we want to make. We test screen it once and show it to them, and then the movie is released. They've been so supportive that one has to support... they needed it.
They also spoke briefly to David Thewlis, who is currently collaborating with David Heyman on The Boy in Striped Pajamas, who mentioned that the romance between Lupin and Tonks is being set up for Deathly Hallows during Half-Blood Prince.

I've always liked David Heyman.
Nice interview, at least he cares about Harry Potter more than WB.

I dearly hope the change they're making is a good one, and that it is something they are actually ADDING to the film, and not SUBTRACTING from it. I suppose the prospect of the change being the incorporation of D*****'s funeral is too much to hope. *Sigh*
I must admit though, that the bit about the Lupin/Tonks romance being included worries me. *ducks frantically as a thousand stones from the hands of devoted Lupin/Tonks fanatics come flying towards my head* Please don't get me wrong - it's not that I don't like Lupin/Tonks - I LOVE those two and I think their romantic subplot is absolutely adorable! HOWEVER, it is NOT in any way, shape, or form, important to the overall story - and THAT'S what needs to be incorporated into the films, no more, no less. If they're going to spend what little precious film time they have on romantic subplots, I'd MUCH rather they spend it on Harry/Ginny and Ron/Hermione; THEY are the love stories of the series that really matter.

Just by the fact that Heyman kept saying how much MONEY they gave him, he's saying he's been bought. He'd be a fool to contradict what WB wants to do. He has to keep working with them. The only thing he said was that it will be upsetting to take a week of of production to promote HBP, he'd rather put the film behind him and move on.
On another note, it is good to hear that the Lupin/Tonks romance has be written into the HBP film and will be continued in the last two.
Blessings! Hecate3fold!

Haha, okay, so he admits the delay is necessary to please Warner Bros. and not the audience. I thought so anyway.

ButterflyGinevra, I disagree. I think adult characters are just as important, also the book is not only about plot, it's about people and Tonks and Lupin deserve a bit of happiness just as much as Harry and Ginny do.

Hmmm...that has pacified me a bit! Though I still wish we could see the film sooner, at least now we have some proper reasons for the delay.

Waa waa waa, it's all for money. I still think it's highly odd they start filming DH before HBP is released. And there was never a really conclusive reason for the films delay. Seeing as 2 trailers have been made, I guess the film is done.

Well,I honestly like David Heyman. However I'm indeed, frustrated about the delay. It sure sounds like that WB just cares about the money plain and simple.I do hope they made the right decision and considers the wellness of the film.I'm definitely gonna expect that HBP will be awesome.

Well, its not his fault that WB is sooooo greedy! But I doubt they are going to make more money next year now after the financial crisis and all, serves them right!

Meh. You know, I hadn't thought about the delay in a couple days, then I looked on the news bulletin and remembered why everyone was angry. Kind of a boring interview, but hey, at least it reminded me to be upset with WB. (Hmm.. counterproductive interview?)

Severely Lupine says:
I am thrilled that they're including some Lupin/Tonks stuff. That's my favorite couple and one of my favorite things about HBP. It's funny what the article says about the age difference, though, considering that's part of the point. Though Thewlis is still older than Lupin, which is true for all the Marauder-era characters. Guess it's a good thing it wasn't Snape who got shipped with a 24-year-old. That could have been an awkward situation.
I do wonder about how the article says no one was more surprised than him, though. If anyone was surprised at the Lupin/Tonks relationship in DH, they must not have been paying much attention during HBP.

and honestly, the delay isn't that big of a deal. The movie is still going to come out and DH is on track so its the same amount of waiting time for that.
