We originally told you
earlier this month that Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince movie would not be shown in IMAX theaters until July 29th, a full two weeks after it's general release date, but now lucky fans in 3 cities in the U.S. (New York, Los Angeles and Chicago) will have a chance
to view the movie at an IMAX theater starting on Wednesday, July 15th.
You can purchase tickets for these cities below:
According to a press release from the Museum of Science and Industry:
Guests to the Museum can also get the full Harry Potter experience and purchase combination tickets for the film and the exhibit, which features costumes and artifacts from the sixth movie as well as more than 200 authentic artifacts seen throughout the film series, displayed in settings inspired by the actual movie sets. The exhibit is open from 9:30 a.m. until 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Sunday. (The last exhibit entry is at 8 p.m. every night.)
Tickets to Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, day or evening, are $15 for adults and seniors and $13 for children 3-11 and can be added to any other Museum or Harry Potter: The Exhibition ticket package. There are several shows daily. The 12 p.m. show requires the purchase of general admission to the Museum. Movie concessions will also be available in the Henry Crown Space Center, adjacent to the Omnimax theater.
Thanks to Jack for the additional information.

I've made this point before, but I will make it again...
Its a BRITISH film, so why do the AMERICANS get all the pre-release stuff and all sorts of other HP things first? Shouldnt the BRITISH people get all the special screenings and whatnot?

Mckenzy - I'm pretty sure that country of origin has nothing to do with it. I think that the USA just has more fans. Don't complain about everything.
Hmm. Wish I could get to Chicago to see that! Looks amazing!

That sounds great for those who are able to attend in those cities.
I went to the Museum of Science and Industry many years ago and saw their IMax screen, but it was just coming out back then and it was free seating just to view the concept of a movie made that way. I'm sure it's all been changed since then.
Blessings! Hecate3fold!

This is good news! I have always wanted to see a Harry Potter film on IMAX but the nearest one is two hours away. I plan on going this summer to the Harry Potter Exhibit in Chicago so when I do, I'm going to see the movie as well! Sweet!
