At a recent Harry Potter convention, MuggleMayhem, actor Joshua Herdman (Gregory Goyle in the film series) revealed the point at which the split of the two Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows movies is expected, as well as changes to the script involving his character.
SPOILER WARNING: Do not continue to read if you do want to know this information!
When asked where the split would take place, Herdman said that the current plan was to end Part I right after Harry, Ron and Hermione are captured by the snatchers, thus beginning Part II with the scene at Malfoy Manor. Director David Yates and producer David Heyman have stated that the split is subject to change at their discretion should they find a more suitable spot.
Furthermore, due to the recent arrest of Jamie Waylett (Vincent Crabbe) the script has been changed to have Goyle die instead of Crabbe, who at this point will not make an appearance in either Deathly Hallows: Part I or II.
Thanks to Jamie and MuggleNet for the news.

That seems like a really good part to split it! Big cliffhanger.... XD
But they will probably end up changing it a few times, haha. :)
Oh Jamie....that is just so sad...I am ashamed of him...

Always knew that they would split it here. It makes the most sense really, as it would be a great way to end and start the 2nd instalment. I just hope they dont sever the hell outta this one.

Oh my gosh, great cliffhanger, then! All the movie goers will be dying to know what happens. Haha. Ahh, it's too bad he got arrested! I'm embarrassed for him. Poor Goyle, now he has to die! :)

I think that the snatchers is a great place to see the movie end! For those who havent read the books it gives them a little cliff hanger sort of speak to go off from. I personally would rather seem them end it right after burying Dobby but thats just me! I am really not a fan of either actor being in the movie meaning Grabbe or Goyle. Never really seen their characters as much of anything in the books really so it didnt really do anything to the storline in the book when he was killed so changing it wont matter.

Sorry, but I think they should recast Crabbe. I would rather give Jamie the boot and stay true to the book. It may be a cost issue, however, and they don't want to pay another actor for just a few minutes of screen time.

I don't know if I want to believe it or not. Like they said, it could change at 'their descression'.
I think that writing Crabbe out of the script because of what he did in real life is ridiculous! Who cares that he was 'growing his own' herbs. Just goes to show you how bigoted some people are. Like the writers or producers have never 'indulged' themselves before. Grow up!
Blessings! Hecate3fold!

So, I think it's pretty ridiculous that they would change something as important as a death in the book just because one of the cast members got busted for pot. News that Jamie Waylett would not be appearing in Deathly Hallows Part I or II is disappointing not only to the fans of the movies but also for the fans of the books who realize that it is actually Crabbe and NOT Goyle who dies.

OH MY GOSH!
This is so ridiculous. Why would they split the movie there? That is so pointless! They should have split it where Ron leaves, not where the snatchers get them.
That's like near the end!
What's the point? It's not in half at all then.
And that is ridiculous having Goyle die instead of Crabbe - Warner Brothers, thank you so much for ruining every single movie of the series.
I'm sure we'll miss your amazing botch ups.

1) That is an absolute perfect spot to end DH1. Right there we have a HEEUUGGEE cliffhanger. I'm happy about this split point.
2) If Jamie Waylett has to do community service for what he did, I don't think he'd even be able to do the movie unless they specifically grant him some time off. I'm a little bit on the fence about this. It would be really weird seeing someone else play Crabbe, but then again, he is the one that's supposed to die, not Goyle. Well, this is to be expected. I mean, each HP movie WB makes, they change it from the book. We just have to roll with the punches, and if we can, complain about it to the producers and show our disgust and hopefully make them feel shame for what they did to the HP world!

That seems like more than half the book in the first movie. In a way that would be good, because more time and fewer book events in the second movie means that less would be omitted from the second movie.
I don't think leaving Jamie out of the first half would detract from the movie. May be he would be finished with his punishment by the second movie. I really wish they would stop changing things. I think Hecate3fold expressed it exactly the way I feel. I know they have to set an example for children, but I think the marijuana laws are too strict. Just use him for the last part of the movie. I think they need BOTH Crabbe and Goyle in that scene.

I think this is a good place to split. I actually thought it may have been at an even later point in the book. It won't really matter that Crabbe is not in it, I guess. But, I don't see why Goyle has to die. They could show the scene and then later go back and say Crabbe died withought showing Jamie.

I have seen all the movies and with the excetion of the first movie, I have never ending up liking the movie version of the story. All the cuts they make to the book (and add a bunch of junk that is not in the books) takes all the magic out. I am just waiting for Half Blood Prince to go to viedo. I no longer feel the big urge to see any of the movies.
Just neutral on the Crabbe and Goyle issue. Although as long as Jamie has completed his legal issues I do not think it should influence his acting career. He is not held as a role model in these movies anyway.

I think that may be a good spot to cut. leave us with a huge cliffie, (though those of us who read the books already know what happens). honestly i thin they should have made a huge like 3 and a half hour movie. i will watch it. the only thing i wouldnt like abouut that is the cuts they'd have to make. so im just hoping they dont screw it up anymore than they have by switching who dies in the ROR.
then again seeing as this is WB were talking about, and Heyman, who knows? i guess depending on the length of part one, and how much they cut out, it may actually be a great stopping point *shrugs*

Well, Crabbe and Goyle are pretty interchangeable anyway. It's unfortunate they had to make the change, but I can totally understand it. Although it might give me a bit more sympathy for Goyle when I watch it. But hey, if they're going to change who lives and dies, I could think of a fair number of others I'd rather switch around.

They were kind of tossing that scene around for the split in the movie so I'm not too surprised but like the article says, it could change if Yates and Heyman think a different scene would be a better fit. As for Jamie Waylett (Crabbe) not appearing, I think it's sad because now Warner Brothers is changing the books again to have Goyle die and that is NOT how it happened in the books. I thought Jamie was only on probation? Too bad he had to get mixed up in drugs. His own stupidity cost him the final film.

Well i just hope that warner brothers dosent seriously screw these two up like they do with practically every other movie.... i mean seriously instead of making Goyle die, why not just leave crabbe out of the scene all together and not kill goyle, it wouldnt change the outcome of the movie... and as for the trouble maker.... whatev, people do it all the time, its really no biggie.

Id rather they cut it at the scene where Dobby was burried at Shell Cottage, which I assumed was the original plan. Instead you want to cut it off where the action is gaining momentum? No thanks. :(

I think Britain should change their laws about marijuana. Who cares if he had a bag of weed on him for his own personal use! He's famous! Its not like he was gonna be selling the crap! To be arrested for posession of marijuana is pretty damn dumb seeing as how its nowhere near as bad as alchohol or tobbacco. Anyways back to Deathly Hallows. I'm interested to see how the end of part 1 is gonna turn out. Of course it will probably be different than in the book. Are they just gonna fade to black after Harry gets hit in the face with that hex and reveal that it was Hermione in part 2? Or will it end with the snatchers talking about handing them over to the Death Eaters? Kinda seems like a strange place to end a movie even if it is part 1 of 2.

Well I like the current choice as to where the movies will split. I remember reading that part only too well. And it was one of those places you just HAD to continue reading. So good too keep people hanging there. ha ha ha. Of course...it's still possible they can change it, but I'm sure I wouldn't mind it. If they did change it I'd probably just wait and be surprised when I go see the movie.

I KNEW IT!! I knew that's where they'd split up the movies. I definitely think it's a good decision and would make an awesome cliffhanger.
I'm kind of sad that they had to make Goyle die instead of Crabbe. I liked that he got to have that one line in OOTP: "Watch where you're going Longbottom!"
