In an upcoming exclusive interview with our friend Garth Franklin at Dark Horizons, actor Jim Broadbent confirms he has been chosen to portray Horace Slughorn in "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince," which coincidentally began principal filming today in the UK. The actor, who was recently seen in "Hot Fuzz," also said he has been going to costume fittings and that his new character is quite comical.

Contrary to numerous web site stories Naomi Watts, Joseph Fiennes and Stuart Townsend are not scheduled to appear in the "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" movie, according to their representatives.

Mr. Hoffman has directed "Soapdish," "One Fine Day" and "A Midsummer Night's Dream."

Warner Bros. are holding an open casting call for the character of Luna Lovegood in "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix" on Saturday, according to CBBC Newsround. Girls must be aged 13-16 and have a valid passport. The casting call will be at Hall Westminster, Storey's Gate, in London and WB will be taking photos and calling back girls they're interested in.

Rumors abound on the Internet today of a small report on Dark Horizons stating that Elizabeth Hurley has been offered the role of an 'evil witch' in "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix." Of course, as with all rumors Warner Bros. has not confirmed this yet, but we will let you know as soon as we hear anything. UPDATE: We have just received word from Warner Bros. that "There is absolutely no truth in that rumor whatsoever."

It would seem that the hunt for a director for the next "Harry Potter" movie is underway. Earlier last week Ain't it Cool News reported that French director Jean-Pierre Jeunet had been approached by Warner Bros. to direct "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix." This follows news that Mira Nair had also been approached to direct the film.

To follow-up on the news that Franz Ferdinand has been contacted to write music and star in "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire" the Sun newspaper from the UK is now reporting that rocker Jarvis Cocker has been signed to compose music for the film, as well as make a cameo appearance. This contradicts a report in September from the John Williams Fan Network claiming that Patrick Doyle had been signed to carry the baton.

According to MTV.com Scottish band Franz Ferdinand have been approached by Warner Bros. to write some music for "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire" and may even appear as the characters the Weird Sisters: "There's a section where there's a band of ugly sisters playing and I think, well ... some members of Franz Ferdinand may be the ugly sisters in the band."

A dog that "stands" and walks on its sole two legs has been offered a cameo role in "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire," according to reports. At three feet tall, Faith was born with the disability and her owners in Oklahoma say they've been contacted by Warner Bros. but that nothing has been finalized.
