Update: 'Potter' theme park in talks
As first reported by Deadline Hollywood Daily, advanced discussions are taking place for an elaborate "Harry Potter"-themed adventure park on Universal's Orlando property. The Scotsman reported Sunday that a former executive revealed detailed plans of the project, worth an estimated $500 million. UPDATE: HPANA can confirm that JK Rowling has been in talks with Warner Bros. about a themed attraction for "several" years.

HP Fan Trips announces 2007 tours, VIP 'Phoenix' screening
This past July fans of "Harry Potter" from around the world participated in the third annual HP Fan Trips, enjoying a trip on the Hogwarts Express and participating in an exclusive gala event at Edinburgh Castle. Next year's itinerary has just been announced, and will include new locations where scenes from "Order of the Phoenix" were filmed. There will also be a VIP screening of the movie the week it is released in Edinburgh.

Photos of "Harry Potter Movie Magic" attraction
DigiCasey has posted a gallery of photos of the now-closed "Harry Potter Movie Magic Experience" at Australia's Warner Bros. Movie World. A faux-Hogwarts, Diagon Alley shop and Hogwarts Express greeted visitors to the attraction up until July 31, 2002.

Virtual tour of Hogwarts' Gloucestershire roots
Earlier this month, reader LuciusGirl (identified as "Nixicarbon" then) directed us to a photo gallery of some of the Lacock Abbey scenery used in the first two Harry Potter movies. Now she's found a new gallery from the BBC of Gloucester Cathedral, which was also used as a stand-in for Hogwarts.

'Bärengasse' museum hosts fairytale exhibit
Imagined places and plot figures from the Harry Potter books are included among other themes from four other classic novels in an exhibition organized by Swiss museum "Bärengasse."

Scotland preparing for Potter tourists
Tourism officials in Scotland are in discussions with Warner Bros. about how best to exploit locations and settings used in the Harry Potter films. For their part, WB doesn't want to "demystify the magic" for its fans by allowing use of Potter-themed names or marketing gimmicks.
