WB makes new 'Half-Blood Prince' downloads available  Comments (8)
To get the buzz for "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" up even more, Warner Bros. has announced new downloads for "Potter" fans using the Firefox web browser. The downloads include new Harry Potter skins and backgrounds as well as a free app from the iTunes Store for iPhone users.

A regional UK newspaper has announced that Ashley Whitehead, a 12 year-old actor, has been cast as an orphan in the "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" movie. Ashley is a member of the Showbiz Academy, a talent agency in the UK that specializes in teaching young and aspiring actors, singers, and dancers. No word on what character Ashley will be playing.

Electronic Arts, the company behind the "Harry Potter" video games, set up a "Fan Council" last year to get feedback on what people would most like to see in the upcoming "Order of the Phoenix" game. The first meeting of the council, which included HPANA, was in August 2006 and last Thursday the group was invited back to see what had been achieved in the intervening eight months.

James Walters is to be Young Sirius, James Utechen will play a Young Lupin and Alec Hopkins will portray Young Snape in "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix," it was reported today by CBBC Newsround. Helena Bonham Carter will replace Helen McCrory as Bellatrix Lestrange, as McCrory now expects to be "heavily pregnant" during what would have been her filming. Professor Grubbly-Plank will be played by Apple Brook. Finally, Jason Piper will play Bane the Centaur.

Patrick Stewart, who plays Professor Charles Xavier in the X-Men movie series, lamented at a Cannes Film Festival press conference recently that he hasn't been asked to be in the "Harry Potter" films: "Every single actor over 60 in England is in the Harry Potter movies," he said. "I'm smarting from these rejections." Prior to the X-Men films, Stewart was best known for his role as Jean-Luc Picard in the television series "Star Trek: The Next Generation."

Earlier today an Irish radio show, "The Tubridy Show," featured the family members of Evanna Lynch, the actress selected to portray Luna Lovegood in "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix." On the program, the host interviewed Evanna's mother and sister who talked about her auditioning for the movie, her love of the books, and how Evanna's personality compares to Luna's personality.
