Fans of the "Harry Potter" movies will finally get a first-hand look at props and set pieces used during filming, when "Harry Potter: The Exhibition" opens at the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago on April 30, 2009. Update: A video featuring the Phelps twins, James and Oliver, at the announcement of the exhibit is now online.

Many people's plans were thrown into disarray by the delay of "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" until next summer. But when one door shuts, another (or several) open: HP Fan Trips announced this evening that they have secured a cast member from Equus to participate in an exclusive workshop following the included performance; and Azkatraz has announced plans for an exclusive IMAX screening of "Half-Blood Prince," which now conveniently coincides with their conference in 2009.

The Becker Group and Warner Bros. Consumer Products announced today that it will bring worldwide "Harry Potter: The Exhibition," highlighting artifacts from the Warner Bros. films based on J.K. Rowling's franchise. The exhibit will premiere in Spring 2009 in "a major market," and will appear in ten or more cities around the world throughout a five-year span. UPDATE: The official web site is now online.

The segment included short interviews with guests while aboard the "Hogwarts Express" carriages and at Edinburgh Castle, as well as comments from a representative of VisitScotland. Views of the Glenfinnan Viaduct and the beautiful Highlands can also be seen in the video.

This past July fans of "Harry Potter" from around the world participated in the third annual HP Fan Trips, enjoying a trip on the Hogwarts Express and participating in an exclusive gala event at Edinburgh Castle. Next year's itinerary has just been announced, and will include new locations where scenes from "Order of the Phoenix" were filmed. There will also be a VIP screening of the movie the week it is released in Edinburgh.

The first of two charity readings by authors JK Rowling, Stephen King and John Irving concluded Tuesday evening at Radio City Music Hall in New York. HPANA was in attendance and has full coverage of the event here. The best-selling authors read from some of their popular works, including "A Prayer for Owen Meany" and "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince," as well as answered probing questions from audience members. Whoopi Goldberg and Jon Stewart made surprise appearances.

The "Harry Potter" fan conference Lumos 2006 in Las Vegas is being hailed by one teacher delegate in the Tononto Star as "a Harry Potter playground for adults" as the event gets underway today. About 40 Canadians are flying in (on planes, not brooms) according to the article.

The event features exclusive activities and attractions and volunteers are needed to help ensure a fun time is had by all.
