A news correspondent at the Leaky Cauldron
reports that Warner Brother's preview of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban movie at the San Diego Comic-Con provided no movie scenes of the upcoming movie, but a short interview with the director and its leading actor. Alfonso Cuarón and Daniel Radcliffe, who was sporting his costume for the Knight Bus scene, merely revealed information about the new cast, scenes that have been filmed and scenes to look forward to, including "quidditch in the rain, and hipppogriffs".
Additional fan reports have been found at the DanRadcliffe.com
and ChrisRankin.com
forums and there seems to be no disagreement in fan reaction.

Yes, i was looking forward to maybe hearing back some info on what was in the clip....but c'est la vie. I was joking with a friend last night after seeing the Pirates movie, that I will prolly have to go endure seeing the Looney Tunes movie just to see the POA trailer. LOL.

I thought it was too good to be true. They don't usually show something when it'll be almost a year until the movie releases or when they're close to finishing their filming. Besides, I didn't think it would've been fair to limit the audience to those who attend big events not everyone can go to.
At least there'll be something to look forward to this early winter when they do show it in theaters!

Too bad. Course, they haven't finished filming (obviously) yet. Who knows what they have and have not filmed. Maybe the scenes that they need to make a good preview are not yet done. But it's okay, because when we finally do see the previews, they will be pretty good, I'm sure. Now we go back to waiting. :)

We got a question answered -- Quidditch! Of course, as we've already discussed elsewhere, PoA's plot falls apart without Quidditch (or hippogriffs for that matter). So now that these elements, at least, are confirmed, I am a little more excited about the movie.

I agree. If there was no Quidditch in the movie, so bloody much would be lost that it would make our heads spin. In fact, it would make our torsos spin, too. And our knees. And feet.
I didn't realize the Comic Con came so soon. If I knew that, then I would've guessed that, preview or not, there wouldn't be much to see there relating the movie. They reached the half-way point not so long ago, didn't they?
Oh well, they'll finish when they do. It'll be out in June anyway.

I completely agree with eclektic- how can there be quidditch without oliver wood giving his motivational speeches to the team??? Well, atleast there will be a quidditch scene after all- but without oliver, that's a disappointment.

Waeh, this is great, well, at least we had a few words from Daniel and my countryman Alfonso Cuaron, what did I tell you???????, let´s trust in my countryman Cuaron, he is great and Rowling won´t allow a movie without Quidditch, remember that she reviews the script after Kloves finish it, so let´s hope that HP3 will be the greastest HP movie in the saga.

You don't have to go to Looney Tunes to see the trailer for Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. It is also going to be at the beginning of The newest Matrix:Revolution. And that will have to be better than Daffy Duck. Bless his soul. LOL!

Yay!!! We found out about that rainy Quidditch scene-- there was a comment where someone was wondering about that. I cannot wait to see this movie, I am more excited about it than I was at the first and second movies, in a way, because there's so many new creatures and people to behold. Since reading this, I'm very 'pumped up' (hehe) for the third movie!

It is sad that they didn't have any actual movie coverage. But at least we were able to gleam some things about the movie from the interviews. Still, If I had been at Comic Con, I would have felt slighted.

I thought I heard there wasn't going to be quidditch, I am glad that said something about it, it's a really important part of the books and should be in the movies also. Too bad for everyone at comic-con who was expecting scenes from the movie though.

I was really hoping that they would show some part of PoA at the con. Then people who were there could tell us. Too bad it wasn't a trailer. That would have been really cool.

More details from someone who was there.
Ok just to give you all a few more details here is what happened. I got there early, as the WB Panel was supposed to begin at 10:30 am. I found about 300 people already in line to fill up the auditorium. By the time they let us is the 5,000 seat (yep 5,000) seat space filled up in a matter of minutes. Many people were there to see Angelina Jolie and Hally Berry but there were lots of people there just to see the Harry Potter footage (many dressed in Hogwarts Students costumes). They began by showing some video previews of other films including Starsky and Hutch and Troy. Well when the shot of Dan Radclif came up there was a huge response from the crowd. Unfortunately there was no footage. The interview was very short and a bit pointless really. I know other people posted that they were not surprised as the film is not finished, but you need to understand that that is VERY typical at Comic Con. Hugh Jackman was there with his new movie that they finished filming just days ago and they showed clips with out the effects added yet. Last year they showed clips of X2 even though they had just BEGUN filming 2 weeks prior. So my spin is that WB probably knew that if they claimed that HP would be previewed it would help fill up the audience for the panel. All I can say is there were many very disappointed HP fans.

Ok! So now that we know that the movie is going to include Quidditch, can we expect a mystery Cho Chang in the movie? Because didn't Alfonso Cuaron say that the only reason Cho wasn't in the movie was because they cut Quidditch? Hmmnn.. and what about Cedric and Oliver Wood? This is getting mysterious. Anyone agree?
