Information garnered from an open lunchtime meeting between Bob Gault and the staff of Disney may have revealed that Disney is in a preliminary stage of constructing a Harry Potter-themed park.
Gault revealed
that the Potter theme park has been completed as a rough draft and the Disney staff is now looking into building a Lord of the Rings-oriented park.
...it seems the head of Universal Orlando was having an open Q&A lunch session with his staff a few weeks ago when he was asked if Universal had any plans to pursue either the Harry Potter franchise or Lord of the Rings for possible future park projects. Bob Gault's answer was that "Disney has Harry Potter wrapped up" and that Universal was instead checking into Lord of the Rings.

At first, I was like 'Wow!' A Potter theme park!!! But now ... I'm kinda thinking Poor JK Rowling. I mean, how many times has she stated that Harry Potter is her "baby"? She's regretting giving permission for half the merchandise already. Imagine, this whole world you've created, all the people and things, right down to the CANDY and already all these cheap plastic action figures and everything are made. It just seems ... I dunno. Tacky, kinda. It would be so hard to make a Potter theme park without totally ruining everything and turning it into this lame kiddie playground. Meh. I'm in two minds about this.

Lilune...I totally agree, I agree, I agree. I don't think they should do it - I really don't. I'm even regretting my mental dream project of the hotel.
She has actually said she's regretted it? My Lord - it's what brought her all her money? But I agree - I would have probably regretted it too once I walked into Wal Mart (do they have Wal Marts overseas?) and saw at least a bit of everything with HP on it. Does it break any hearts here to see HP toys on the clearance rack? For some strange reason it does mine. Of course, I don't buy them, but I get this "aw - HP isn't that popular anymore" feeling.
Yes - I know, I'm strange.

This reminds me of a Foxtrot comic strip I saw a while ago where they try to build this elaborate theme park store and it didn't turn out too good. Let's hope otherwise for HP!

NOOOOOO!! OMG that is taking it WAY TO FAR! Talk about commercialism, these people just wanna profit off a credible and amazing story, take advantage of the fans to profit for themselves. A Harry Potter theme park will only discredit the story, make it cheep, i this its disgraceful, and a blatant ger big bucks quick scheme coming from the disney or theme park people, whoever is responsible for this. I've always loved these books and its story, but i've never bought into the merchendise and movies. I think it would be really stupid thing to go through with.

I think it would be kind of cool to go to a Harry Potter theme park, of course Disney or whoever is trying to make money, that's all anyone is trying to do, but if it's in demand and people will pay to go there, why not?

If Disney does make a theme park I think it would suck and it would take a long time to build. Though many people might not go because Harry Potter might not be that popular by the time it is built so it might be closed down possibly a year or so after it is built and starts. if it is built do you think it would be at Orlando or Californa? Personally I don't think it would be fun because it would mostly target children so it might be some thing that isn't really fun or get's you like "yeah I want to do that again!" But people might like it just because it is Harry Potter but I don't think I'd waste my time on a think like that. Remember this is just my opinion.

Snief, Disney is definitely too far away for me… But why isn’t Warner Bros. doing something like that? I thought they had all the rights. And we would have definitely Harry/Dan, Hermione/Emma images there. Warner Bros should do something too (because I could reach one of the parks in about two hours with the car:-))

All we have to do now is hope that this attraction be nice, and faithfull to the books.
I believe that Disney will open it, but extensions may be possible after the release of all 7 books.

I would love to see a Harry Potter ride. The line for the ride will be extra long and I will ride it over and over again!
