Cool!:) Hmmm I wonder just how long that beard is, not quite as silvery in color as I imagined either, but pretty cool none the less.

He looks pretty good, I think. Harris's breathy voice didn't seem to fit my mental image of Dumbledore, so perhaps I'll like Gambon better.

The wonders of a make-up department. They can do some pretty amazing stuff can't they. He looks pretty good there. Not that much difference between the two Dumbledores.

Uh-oh, I had better make it clear that my comments were firmly tongue in cheek (about the beard length and the colour) or I'm going to start sounding like one of those fans that pick every detail out :)

Yeah, Puddifoot, careful there, or you're gonna sound like one of those people who complains because someone's hair isn't messed up enough! ;)

Looks great. A few months ago some pictures were posted on various sites that were taken during filming in the rain...and they showed him with a very very long beard that actually had a cover/slip thing on it to protect it from the rain.

Me too muggle wizard - I keep searching the internet just in case there is a picture there I haven't seen, or some theories that I haven't read.
In the mean time I am just going to have to see the first two films again.

I love Michael Gambons acting, and think he makes a fantastic Dumbledore, I hope he remains with the rest of the films that they make.

Yay! Another picture! Gambon makes a good Dumbledore - looks very similar to Harris. In the picture, it looks like he has long fingers, which fits in with the description of DD. Counting down the days till June 4 . . .
(And yes, where are the pics of Lupin and Sirius? And the Buckbeak animatronic?)

I love Michael Gambon as an actor, but I do hope that he doesn't come across as the "overage hippie" that's mentioned in the article.

He does look pretty close to Richard Harris. Now for the voice. It's great that they found us a Dumbledore so close.

Wow. he defiantly looks like the old dumbledore well sort of. but, I agree with padfoot5312 I think i would need to hear the voice to actually know if he is a good dumbledore.

I enjoyed watching Richard Harris as Dumbledore and will miss him. I loved the scene in Hagrid's Hut when Harry and Ron were under the invisibility cloak and he told us with his eyes that he knew they were there and would help anyone who asked for it. Michael Gambon is a wonderful actor as well, and I look forward to his performance.

Wow, Michael Gambon looks great as Dumbledore... The only complaints I have is that his beard was in my mind a lot more silver than grey. I think that Michael Gambon will be able to portray Dumbledore's powerful/angry side better than Richard Harris could. (think when the Dementors show up at Harry's Quidditch match)

Madam Hooch says:
Michael Gambon makes a good Dumbledore! He does look a little like RIchard Harri, which is good. I was afraid the change would be too big, and that it would ruin a little the movie. Just one thing, the beard looks pretty grey. Richard's was more silver, but maybe it's just the picture.

He looks pretty close to what Harris as DD looked. The make-up team did a great job. And like you, Sirius-Ella, I really really want to see what Lupin looks like. He is my favorite character, besides sirius.
