Rashed posts his writing on his Harry Potter movie site
, an excellent spot for information relating to production and development of the latest installment in the Potter films.
Included in his latest report
are possible details of the future 'Order of the Phoenix' film, as well as the usual (exciting) recount of events on this year's movie set. Rashed has also posted a few of the sketches of the movie set he drew impromptu while on location, since photos are strictly forbidden.
Once again we get to the park fairly early. We head straight to the "Beach" set. Rehearsals are already taking place. We enter the location from the forest behind the set. We expect to see barriers fairly soon, we were wrong. They hadn't extended the barriers. However we are quickly spotted by a PA or runner, and are asked to move round to watch the filming as we are in the line of the camera. We are taken round the side of the set, and sit down. Ron's and Hermione's doubles are on set with Alfonso Cuaron. A stand in for Hagrid is in the water, he briefly puts on a 'Hagrid Head'.
A sample of the rumours found in this piece, through mutterings "overheard on site":
Alfonso wants to direct the fifth movie. Was asked to do the fourth but wants a break. Would like to come back for the fifth and has asked WB to give him an offer.
Wow! Thanks very much for the tips, Rashed and Jim!

Don't get me all excited about when movie five is coming out! They might have to give movies three and four a higher rating than the other ones. some people, not me, consider them kinda violent.

tonks black I agree - totally agree - I don't bumping the ratings up to PG-13 would kill the movie - but that's just me.

I just can't wait until PoA come out in June!!! Then I can decide if Curon would be my first choice for OoP director. I am sure he will do a great job, I just hate for some of the best books ever written not to be great movies! I'm really protective about them (I know I sound a little crazy, but I guess I am when it comes to Harry). Also, I agree with the comments made about bumping up the ratings to PG 13. I have two small children (2 & 4) and we are pretty particular about what they watch. They love the first two movies (their fave is the "Howler" scene in CoS), and I would hate for them to not be able to see them until they are older.

Dan--well I hope he's having fun doing the films, and the others as well but without them in the rest it would be sad. But to think from a performer's point of view, sometimes, you can only let so much take up a lot of your life.. I mean er, well he started when he was ten, will probably end when he's 18 or 19 or whenever Rowling finishes her tales. I mean a decade of missing out on your teen life is a lot. Hope they are in it.. as long as they're happy!
OMG! I just realized how much reality sets in.. we'll all be in our late teens or early twenties when they finish.. eeeeek...!!

I think it's cool that he is going to do two movies, and especially OotP because that is going to be so long. If I could pick what movie to direct it would prabably be the fifth one because it has alot of clues to follow, and to make Dudley a bully would be cool too.

Again, I think these updates are great. It's so interesting to know what's going on at the filming sites. I'm so glad that the trio signed on for the fourth movie and sincerely hope they will all remain in the movies. They're great actors/actress and can only get better.

I agree with all of the above - and I think Emma probably only signed up last because her parents are so protective, they want her to go to normal school and finish there. But then again, Dan's parents are like that too, so ... yeah, I don't know. I just hope they'll stay and do them all, it wouldn't be the same without them!

I was under the impression that Chris Columbus wanted to return to direct the movie for the fifth book. As for Cuaron directing the fifth movie, i can't say much since we haven't seen the 3rd movie to decide how he is. Who knows, Mike Newel might turn out to be an amazing director for Harry Potter movies too.

I agree with Chogirland Sookie, let's wait to see how PoA turns out before deciding whether Cuaron is the right director or not. OotP is such a pivotal book. I also had the impression that Columbus wanted to direct future books as well.

I am still excited to see any of the books become movies, no matter who directs, unless they butcher it, then I will be mad. But, my main concern, as always, is BOOK 6! When will it be published?!?

I too want to see what he does with the fourth before I get excited about him doing the fifth. I hope the kids want to continue, it would be nice to have a solid trio through all the films, but I'll understand if they want to quit after the fourth. Making these movies back to back has to be more trying then doing a yearly TV series.

Thats cool that means they are planning on making OotP into a movie, i hope they dont try and make it into one movie that would be just ridiculous. I also hope they keep Rupert Dan and Emma because if they recast them it just wouldnt be the same.

I think that if CuarĂ³n does well on the third movie, I hope he comes back for the fifth. It doesn't matter who signs when. It could have just taked Emma's parents a longer time to decide whether or not they wanted her to do another movie. I hope they stay for all seven movies though. I will be sad if they don't.

I'm gonna wait to see the 3rd movie, and then see if he should come back for the 5th movie. And I also agree with Chandra80D[b] and [b]tonks black. They should give the movies higher ratings, seeing as the books get darker and scarier as they go on.

Hold on if they making the movie, the rating will go up, from PG to PG-13, cause each book the plotting is darker.

Cool! I think it would be awesome if Cuaron directs OoTP. Don't get me wrong...Columbus and Newell are great directors..but I think OoTP needs Cuaron's edginess for the movie. And plus I liked Cuaron's "A Little Princess"...there was a magical quality to the movie that I can't explain, but it's amazing :D
Also, I'm not sure if Dan, Rupert, and Emma will do the other films. Think about it...they will probably be around 18-19 years old by the time the 7th movie will come out...that is if there is even going to be a 5th, 6th, and 7th movie. I mean...they're missing out on a lot of stuff. They're missing school and normal teen stuff...and it's hard work to do the HP movies. Normal movies take a couple of months to do a typical movie...HP takes 1-2 years!!! Wow...that's crazy! Well, it would be awesome if the trio stayed on..but if not, I would understand...but I'd be sad :(

Well, Alfonso Cuaron might want to come back, but Mike Newell is the director for the Goblet of Fire and he might want the job, too. But I won't care who directs it. As long as I can go to the theatres and June 4, 2004 and some time in November of 2005 and see the Prisoner of Azkaban and the Goblet of Fire I will be totally happy : )

I think W.B. should wait until they see how well Prisoner of Azkaban does...I do want Cuaron to stay, don't get me wrong, because he is the only director with a true understanding of teenagers. I mean, how well could Columbus handle angry teenage boys and angst?
