Source: Loyal And True: Henry for Cedric Diggory via iharrypotter.net
A couple of fans devoted to seeing their favorite actor, the currently little-known Henry Cavill, have created a small and informative website soliciting letters to support their position to enlist him in the movie Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire as Cedric Diggory.
Tasha, along with help from Rachel and Gillian, constructed this website
(Loyal and True: Henry [Cavill] for Cedric Diggory) solely to elect this slowly rising talent
to a role that any actor in such a position would dream of.
The fans penned their own exposition detailing their favor for Cavill as Diggory:
Cedric Diggory, though briefly introduced in the third Harry Potter book, became a well-known and important character in the fourth. A genuine Hufflepuff, he is dear to the hearts of many Harry Potter fans, and it is imperative that the perfect Cedric Diggory is selected for the movie adaptation of "Harry Potter & the Goblet of Fire."
In our opinion, Henry Cavill is the ideal Cedric Diggory.
First, there is the physical description to consider, and Henry fits that very well. Henry is tall, has the strong facial features, the brown hair, and the light eyes. This is easy to see, even by looking at photos of Henry. One could describe Cedric, and practically be describing Henry at the same time.
In this editor's opinion, this would be an excellent venture to pursue. Fresh talent would be excellent for any role, including this one. Huge production budgets and top-draw stars should not prohibit less well-known actors and actresses from joining any cast. Too often and unfortunately, the same happens.

Jupiter Lumos says:
In all honesty, he’s not at all whom I envisioned to play Cedric. I kind of imagine that character as having sandy brown hair, for some reason. Anyway, Henry Cavill is a relatively good actor, but as phoenixashes said, I think he looks a bit old for the part.
I’m not too sure if that web site is going to get them too far. Usually the actor would have to go through an agency then land an audition with the film company and fight his way up from there. Well, either way, best of luck to the girls running the site and to Henry.

Surely the role would have been cast already? They're well into the filming of PoA; assuming Cedric appears in that film of course.

Everyone has different expectations of what Cedric should be/look like. Henry is ours. :)
For those wondering how old he is [yet already think he 'sucks'], he just turned 20 this year. He is not too old, and is, in fact, about the same age as Chris Rankin and Sean Biggerstaff.
The role for Cedric has not yet been cast, as his character was cut out of PoA.
We do not know if our attempts will prove to be successful or not, but as avid fans of both Henry and Harry Potter, we are trying our best anyhow.
What are fans for, right?

I think it's really sad that Cedric and Wood are not going to be in the film. That Quidditch match plays such an important part in the story...

He looks quite good, not the way I imagined, though. Maybe he'll make it into the fourth movie. I don't think that he is too old, he is just 20 years old. If they are going to cast the roles with actors who are of the right age WB will have to make the movies 5-7 without Dan, Rupert and Emma!

This looks like a good Cedric, and not too old. It's close to how I pictured him... It's probably about the right time to make some impressions on the casting crew, I guess, but, really, GoF is a long time away... It will be a long time before any of us fans really know what GoF is going to be like anyway.

Mmm I think he would make an alright Cedric. Not really the looks I was imagining but...Hey the could work something out. I had to look up who Jack Ryder was and I thought he had a good face for Cedric. Eh either way as long as the actor who plays Cedric is hott ;-) haha.

Choralee says:
I have always envisioned Cedric as young man of good height, with a depth to his eyes when you lok at in to them. Something intangible that says "I know your secrets and it's okay". Seems to me that Henry Cavill has the possibility of being such a character, but none of the photos of him really match what I would like to see in Cedric. He comes off as too free, almost reckless in his appearance. And if anyone cares to look at his Counte of Monte Cristo role, quite shallow.
With straighter hair, better outfits and a more solemn countenance, Cavill could fill the role. I say, though, we keep on looking. I would love to see someone play Cedric with true gray eyes! One of his characters' best features!

Chogiiiirl says:
I agree with Choralee: I want the grey eyes, too! They are very important to Cedric. I don't think 20 is too old to play Cedric. That's only 3 years older than the 17 he has to be to enter the Triwizard Tournament. Also, older actors are often picked to play younger parts, if they can pull it off, because of the maturity they will have.
I'd have to see his hair straightened, before I can think of Henry as Cedric.

He's in "The Count of Monte Cristo". He's one of the main characters. I think he's perfect for it, he's really handsome.
I've heard this a long time ago, I'm suprised it's only come out here now.
That picture of him on the website with the uniform doesn't look like him... Go to Google Imagess and search for him. There's one particular black and white pic of him that portrays him the best.

I think he'd make a really good Cedric, he was great in The Counte of Monte Cristo! As for being 20, I think he looks just right, and if he looks too much older then i bet they could figure a way to make him look a bit younger....:)

I don't know who Henry Cavil is. Can anyone tell me what films he has been in and who he played? Maybe I'll remember him then?
Cedric is one of those characters I find REALLY hard to conjure up an image of. I can think of what Cho might look like and other people like Bill Weasley etc. But I can't imagine what Cedric might look like. All I can think of is a large build, maybe broad shoulders, but I can't decide on hair style or anything. It's really annoying, so I wont be disappointed when Cedric comes up cos I don't know what to imagine!

Dude, he's like 20, that just yells out way too old for the part.
