Nineteen-year-old Jacqueline Brocklehurst is probably the youngest woman to have ever taken part in the TV quiz show Mastermind
, according to quizmaster John Humphrys. What's more, Jacqueline impressed Humphrys with her performance
on the show.
Jacqueline Brocklehurst got 13 out of 19 questions correct in the "specialist subject" section of the quick-fire quiz.
Her specialist subject was the Potter movies.
She was up against three middle-aged men in the quiz, but she knew her subject better than they knew theirs.
The men scored between eight and 12 points, meaning Jacqueline was ahead at the halfway stage in the quiz.
Jacqueline managed to increase her score to 15 points, but it wasn't good enough to beat her fellow contestants.
The Leaky Cauldron
has also posted a list of the questions posed to Jacqueline, and here are a few examples:
Who was the scriptwriter for both films?
Which part was played by Eleanor Columbus?
Surname of actors playing the Weasley twins?
How many Academy Award nominations did PS/SS receive?
Name of town in Surrey where the Dursleys live?
Name of Gilderoy Lockhart's autobiography?

I knew half of them without reading everyone else's posts. Not bad if you ask me. I totally have no idea how many nominations SS got though.

In the UK, there was a Junior Mastermind and someone did the topic 'The Harry Potter Books by J.K.Rowling.'
The only question I remember was:
'What do Wizards call non-magic folk?' Which was of course Muggles, pretty easy.
I could be talking about the same episode, but the one I saw was on the books and not the films.

I would have chosen the books, too. I'm sure that I know more about them than about the movies. In fact I wasn't able to answer all questions, but most of them. The most difficult in my opinion was the one about the Academy Awards. But 13 out of 19 is a good result. Especially because of the fact that everybody is nervous in a TV Show and I don't think Jacqueline wasn't.

I only knew one of the movie questions. I might have been able to get the first names of the twins but I sure didn't remember the last ones. I prefer the books. Fred and George are a lot more fun in the books.

Yeah, those types of questions are somewhat difficult- now I'm doubting my own extensive knowledge of the Harry Potter world... I should go study some more.
I wish there was a job that required this type of knowledge... I'd be set for life.

Who knew watching the Harry Potter movies could get you onto a quizshow. Although I am more of an expert on the books. Those questions were more difficult than I first thought. Congratulations go to Jacqueline Brockelhurst.
