Emma Thompson briefly discusses how art imitates life
. It turns out Professor Trelawney is just as wacky as she is in describing a specific scene in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban:
The British actress jokes, "I have a nervous breakdown in the film and in one scene I get to stand at the top of the stairs waving an empty sherry bottle which is, of course, a typical scene from my daily life, so isn't much of a stretch."
Editor's Note: I can only presume this might be the Christmas feast scene, the rare occasion Professor Trelawney comes down from her tower. Otherwise it sounds as if she's describing a scene in Order of the Phoenix, mixing up the two books together, or the movie-makers are deviating from the book.

That's hilarious. I can't wait to see her portrayal of Trelawny. Some of the funny parts of the book take place in Divination.

I asked myself what she is talking about: book 5, the movie or what? Hope that's not a scene from PoA as I can't imagine Trelawney running around Hogwarts with an empty Sherry bottle in her hand as long as Dolores Umbridge isn't there. I mean, she wasn't portrayed like a crazy alcoholic in all the books. Hope they aren't going to mix up from different books!

That really does sound like a scene out of OOTP. Steve Kloves is the guy that writes the script, right? He needs to reread the third book, but otherwise it sounds really funny.

That sounds like a funny scene. I cannot wait to see the movie. Even if it does end up that the POA movie has "deviations" , I think it will be the best movie yet. So far, I really like everything I've seen, and think Cuaron is doing a fabulous job :)

Well, it wasn't in the 3rd book, but certainly this could be a bit of comedic foreshadowing that they decided to put in. Considering that filming for this movie began before the 5th book came out, either the sherry bit was already in the script and it's just a coincidence, or they added it last minute for a little extra fun plus a nod to future events. :)

I'm excited about the film too.
However, even though I'm sure the film will not exactly be like the books, I'm also sure that the film will not deviate too much away from the book either, so dont worry! JK Rowling just wouldn't allow that.

I am going to have to re-read Azkaban again, for the fourth time, because I don't remember Trewalney drinking until book 6.
But Emma sounds like she had a great time, I do hope her daughter is impressed.

If there were any differences or deviations or creative liberties from the original book version, I don't know now if the director is the sole person to blame. I would think the person doing the screenplay, Steven Kloves, have some say in what goes in and out of the film as well -- they do the adaptation from book-to-script, don't they?

Emma Thompson sounds like she will be a WONDERFUL Professor Trelawney!! aND, I think that either Thompson mixed up which scenes were in which books, or they added that part to POA cause I don't really remember! Oh well I still CANT WAIT!!!!!
