member and friend Dayna took some nice pictures of the sign post display for Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban at her local theater, which can be seen here:
Dayna also chronicled her quest to find one of her own to take home:
I asked [the theater manager] about the poster and he said that they all have to go back to the company because of copyright stuff, blah blah blah, everyone's all anal about it.
Then he asked which movie I wanted and I told him, and he said "That poster hasn't come out yet anyway, all we have is..." and he pointed to the hologram lamppost display thing that I completely missed on my way in and while standing around waiting for him.
So, naturally I asked about that... does it have to be sent back too? And he said those are DESTROYED when they're done with them! I asked if there was any way I could buy it and he said they aren't allowed to give them away and most of the time they show up on eBay and it's not worth risking your job over.

Wow, these are a cool way to advertise the next movie! I am going to the local theater to see LotR on Saturday, I will have to look around and see if they have their display up yet! I hope so, that would be so cool.

My local cinema didn't have any advertising displays for Prisoner of Azkaban up Wedensday when I went there Wedensday to see Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King. The fact that the theaters are not allowed to sell the posters for copyright purposes, but instead are required to destroy them, is peculiar.

Chogirl - you will love LOTR! My 2 hour wait in line was so worth the film! Just do not think about the movie "Rudy". It'll ruin the entire end of the film (fierce giggles and all)
I would love to take home one of these lamp posts! Why doesn't WB sell them? Us HPers would gobble them up!
And, reality check - who really believes the theatre employees destroy these items? Come on.

I wish my therater did that so early, they only start to put things up when its a mouthn away. If i could buy it that would be kewl, though having a large cardbord lamppost in my room is odd.

Very nice shots. Not too surprising about them being unable to sell or give away the stuff. The marketing of this material is very carefully controlled. Funny about it all showing up on E-bay.

I wish I could get them. But then I probably have to wait like everybody else for when they come out. June 4 is too long of a wait.

My theater has had that HP Sirus sign post for like a month! I'm surprised no one elses theaters have had one yet. I ask the manager the same question about buying it off the theater. His answer was the same, they can't sell it because of copyrights and other crap. Oh well me and my freinds were joking around and saying that one should pull up the truck, while the other destracts the movie people, then i'll run out with it. Ha ha ha ha ha!!! =-)

I like the concept better than the actual realization. The idea of having a sign post from the wizarding world with flyer of the wanted poster for Sirius Black is great. I just don't think that when you see it the real thing it looks a bit "cheesy". Just my opinion. Maybe it looks better in person??

Well the Wanted Poster has already been on sale on Ebay. I expect the manager is right and the display will show up there also at a good price. If any of you have friends/family who manage/work in a theatre, better talk to them now.
