Bloomsbury announced
today it is releasing a paperback version of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix on July 10. Scholastic will follow with the American version on August 10.
The company will release both an adult and children's edition, priced at £7.99, and "will be backed by a major advertising campaign."
Scholastic announced
pricing for its edition will be $9.99, with 896 total pages. The first printing of 2 million copies will bring the total of all Harry Potter books printed to 100 million, according to the company.

Well, like hardback more then paperback though...
I'm always afraid that i will ruin the book when it's paperback. Not really a big deal for me anyway, in Denmark we only have the paperback version of the translated The Order the Pheonix. So i am pretty glad that the english version is in hardback.
Hmmm.. Thought they already had released an adult paperback edition...

It does not look like the list price for the book, will be much lower than the selling price for the Hardback version. My guess, is that it will sell for 30-40% less than the suggested price, but that might be optomistic. I am not sure anyone will be there to buy the paperback. Can you imagine waiting this long for the book?

I'm hopeful that the cover will be different than the hardback. It looks like that might be the hardback pictured. Having a different cover makes it highly collectible. I think they will be smart enough to know that as many will buy the pb just for the cover. Like me.

Finally! A paperback version, which I hope will be easier to weild while reading before I sleep. The hardcover is just so heavy! I like being able to wrap the cover around the binding and hold the book with one hand when I can! Then I can also leave my hardcovers to the shelf, where they belong, all nice and safe and protected from over use!

They will release both an adult and children's edition???
I wonder what the difference will be. Was the hardback a adult edition? I think I'm going to have to read both to see what the difference is!

I love the paperback versions. I am in college and it's easier to tote around. I have already read it but that doesn't mean I can't reread it another four times. I have already worn out my paperback editions of the other four. Yea for trees!!!

It's a good thing because it is cheaper and more easy to transport. I do prefer hard cover books but I have the paperback editions as well.

I wonder if it will be any lighter than the hardback.
I wouldn't like to be in Poland, because I don't think I would be able to wait this long for OotP.

Professor Scoots says:
I guess they wanted to wait until after the movies come out to release the paperbacks, so the marketing doesn't effect the movie's promotion. While it is always good to have a share copy of the book around, I wonder how many people don't own a copy already? I wonder how popular they will be? FYI - I think the "adult and children editions" refer to the cover art and not the stories.

Well, that doesn't really make any difference to me because I've had the hardcover since June 21st, but it would be nice to have a smaller copy so I wouldn't have to carry around a dictionary.

I've been waiting for news of when the paperback versions would be printed. Since I must have each book in both types. I do like the adult cover from Bloomsbury. I will most likely purchase one from Amazon.com uk, as well as the Scholastic edition for traveling.

Paper back is good for on the go, but hard back is so much better so that you have less of a chance to tear something. Oh well...I've got the first two in paper back...
