According to the John Williams Fan Network
the soundtrack for Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban will be released on CD in May - one month before the release of the movie.
Mr. Williams
is currently finishing the score which he will then record in London next month. The first teaser trailer of the film featured the song Something Wicked This Way Comes which was composed and recorded by Williams last year.
On another note, Williams is to receive the Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror Films Lifetime Achievement Award
during the 30th Annual Saturn Awards
, to be held on May 5. His body of work includes Jaws, E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial, the Star Wars trilogy, Superman: The Movie, and the recent Harry Potter films.

Mr. Williams' score writing abilities are unparalleled. His prior HP music fits to a 'T'. I can't wait to get the CD. At least I don't have to wait as long for this, as I do the the film. Why is June taking so long to get here!

So happy, so very happy. Moonydawn, John Williams has scored tons of films. They include AI, Star Wars (all of them) Jaws, and Indiana Jones. He loves working with Speilberg and Lucas. For more info, go to imdb.com and punch his name into the search box and hit the go button.

I very much enjoy listening to the soundtracks. I have the CDs from both films. They're great because they're mostly instrumental, so they're ideal for listening to while doing homework.
Mr. Williams is a great composer. His works are wonderful. I agree with most that his music truly fits the world of Harry Potter. It makes the films even more magical.

Excellent! The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King soundtrack also came out a couple of weeks before the movie did, and I spent those few days trying to decode from the music what would be happening in the movie. A deliciously suspenseful way to pass the time, it is.... Plus, this one is coming out right around AP exams, which ought to provide excellent study music....
Coincidentally, I had to reformat my hard drive yesterday, so I spent all today ripping my CDs back onto my hard drive... including the first two Harry Potter soundtracks. Bloody brilliant, they are!
Moonydawn, to answer your question, John Williams's "body of work includes Jaws, E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial, the Star Wars trilogy, Superman: The Movie, and the recent Harry Potter Films." He has also composed the music for Schindler's List and the Olympic theme songs (at least as played in America; I dunno about it in other parts of the world).

Moonydawn and CalimaCala -
John Williams is the guy who wrote the Olympic theme now used world wide. It is much longer than what we hear on the broadcasts. Listen to the whole piece and you will be amazed at the genius of his writing! I still cannot believe all this glorious music comes out of one man's head! Williams is like the modern day Mozart...
I can't wait for the soundtrack! That is what first attracted me to the films and then to the books! I was surfing channels at home and heard the music and became intrigued. I wonder how many other HP fans have come into the wizarding world the same way?
For the John Williams fan, the CD of his Greatest Hits 1969-1999 is a must have! All the best is here:
Superman
Star Wars (ALL of them)
Indiana Jones
Close Encounters
Saving Private Ryan
Home Alone
Stepmom
Jurassic Park (only the most beautiful piece of music ever!)
Empire of the Sun
just to name a few of my favorites! HP is not in this compilation. So add to the list! Maybe we will be blessed with a Greatest Hits 1999-present?
