ABC's May 9 presentation of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone has deleted scenes edited back into the film by director Chris Columbus.
The disclosure was revealed in a Video Store Magazine article
, Wizard News reported today. "It will be the first time the movie has been seen this way," said a Warner Bros. spokesperson. "Director Chris Columbus went back and added 20 minutes of footage to the actual movie."
U.S. television network ABC is debuting Sorcerer's Stone on Sunday, May 9 in a four hour telecast that will feature the extended version of the film, interstitials with the movie's stars in which they take viewers behind the scenes, and a 10-minute sneek peak at Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, which hits theaters this summer.

Whoah! I've always wanted to see HP this way. It'll be sorta like the LotR extended editions! Awesome! I'm guessing the scenes added in will be the "hidden" ones from the DVD. A lot of those deleted scenes I felt shoulda been left in, because they were really good. :D

Even if some or all were already on the DVD, I would be happy if they put it back in the movie. Hope they will film alot of extra scenes for all the movies and add it in eventually. I would buy another copy just to have it all edited together. It's only money, right? And what better way to spend than on HP!!!!!!

I hope they do the same thing with COS eventually! JK even said she was disappointed with some of the scenes that were taken out. I really want to see it with the whole Ernie Macmillan scene back where it belonged.

Less than two months until the release of The Prisoner of Azkaban!
I just went to the ABC website to see if they had any other information about the airing of the movie. According to the web site the movie will air twice once on Sunday, May 9th at 7/6c and then again on Saturday, May 15 at 8/7c. So for those of you that miss it the first time you can still see it. Plus those of us who do see it can watch it again. YES, they are airing the extended version both times and they are showing the 10 minutes of Azkaban footage both times. HOORAY!
