:
RS: Did you feel intimidated doing the third part of Harry Potter because of the unavoidably comparison?
Cuarón: No. When they sent me the script, I was very ignorant about Harry Potter. I hadn’t read any of the books or seen any of the movies, until producer David Heyman asked me to please read it, so I did, and I saw great possibilities. I had a conversation with Guillermo del Toro, since I was having doubts about doing it, so he told me that I should do it if I could serve the material completely. In a way it was an interesting exercise for my ego. This time I tried to understand the story and the material. The cool thing was that the universe that it was all ready created made me feel very happy and very calm. The same thing with the cast, that it was already established. Better yet, the cool thing was to make the evolution of the series.

From AZCentral.com
:
"This is pretty much a film about identity," Cuarón said in his easy but heavily accented English. He had returned to his office down the hall in the SoHo building where post-production work was proceeding feverishly. The shoes were off again. Raking his fingers through his slightly demonic beard, he slumped on one of the sofas, near a huge pile of toys he keeps on the floor for his toddling daughter and any other children who happen to drop by.
"It's about a kid trying to come to terms with being a teenager, with being 13 and having an awareness of things," Cuarón continued. "It's the moment when you realize that the monster is not under the bed or in the closet, but inside you - and the only weapon to fight that monster also resides inside you."

From what I've seen it appears that Alfonso is a great director and that he's done an excellent job with Prisoner of Azkaban.

I think Alfonso is awesome. By looking at the trailers, this movie is going to be so much more amazing than the first two. Just amazing.

Personally, I find the director amazing. Because I love classic children's lit, I had seen A Little Princess in the theater when it came out, so he was familiar to me when he was announced as the director.
One of the cutest moments in an interview was when Daniel admitted to having watched Y Tu Mama Tambien before shooting the third move to get to know his work as a director and then he blushed. For those of you not familiar, it is an NC-17 Spanish movie about two boys (very young college age) who go on a road trip with an 'older woman,' and yes, lots of NC-17 things happen. (There is an R rated version as well).
As a grownup who finds young Daniel a bit too cute for her own good (and is quite glad that there is a whole country and an ocean between us!) I'm looking forward to what this director does with the movie. My biggest dissapointment has got to be that I have to buy all new ties and sweaters and skirts for my costumes though!!! Ouch!

They talked with Alfonso in the clip from ABC. I really like what he thinks about the development of the story! I am curiouse to see how he made Hogwarts in the 3rd movie. Becouse his stile of Directing is different then what we have seen so far! I eagerly await June 4th.

I kind of wish that the new director would have been involved with HP before he got the movie. I don't think people on the outside realize how important details are too us fans, but I'm sure it'll be great anyways!

Glad you did! I can't imagine how someone can direct a book-based film without reading the book.
