J.K. Rowling
gives an interview to USA Today
, sharing her thoughts about the Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban movie. In the article, she talks about the film's director Alfonso Cuarón, the dementors, and the eerie foreshadowing of what's to come in the last two books of the Harry Potter series:
Here's an excerpt of the full article
:
It is almost as eerie as one of the plots from her beloved best-selling books.
Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling says that Alfonso Cuarón, who directed The Prisoner of Azkaban, which opens next Friday, inadvertently foreshadowed events that will happen in books six and seven, which she has yet to complete.
"I really got goose bumps when I saw a couple of those things, and I thought, people are going to look back on the film and think that those were put in deliberately as clues," Rowling says in an interview released by Warner Bros., which is distributing the movie.
Rowling cites Cuarón's "good intuition about what would and wouldn't work" in his film version, which is a less by-the-book take on her novel than the previous two films....
...[Rowling] sees the movie as "Alfonso's version of my world. It's his baby. For the very obvious reason that books and films are such different media, to do a very literal adaptation maybe wouldn't serve the material best, and I think he's done exactly what I hoped he would do. He's put a lot of humor in there, and I think it's fantastic. I'd be very, very surprised if most people didn't find their favorite parts of the book in that film."

I think she's probably talking about Ron and Hermione, because she said the same thing about the end of CoS. She might be talking about more though, because she doesn't really make it a secret during interviews and stuff that they're probably going to get together.

I cant wait to see this movie next week, each time i read a new article or see new pictures i get more excited.
hey morgana witch, you know what i though the clue was from the end of CoS? After Harry helps Dobby get his freedom from Lucius Malfoy, Lucius raises his wand to Harry, and says something that distinctly sounds like "Avada", which is the beginning of the curse Avada Kadava. if you read through the end of CoS (which i did as soon as i saw that), it didnt happen like that in the book!!!!!

Mmmm, this is interesting. It will be really interesting to look back in a few years time and see exactly what she meant by the foreshadowing, but until then CONSTANT VIGILANCE should be exercised at all times when watching the film - maybe then we can pick out some important clues!

I am so glad that she spoke out in favor of Cuaron's adaptation of her book. I hope this will silence all the nay-sayers expecting the movie to be a page by page translation of the book onto film instead of an actual film.
I too am going to disect the film to find the possible clues, but probably not until it comes out on DVD.

But now we're all going to go to the movie to see if we can find anything that could be a clue for the next books!

The final stamp of approval is good enough for me. I will have to keep my eyes glued on for any possible clues to books 6 and 7. They will probably be hard to find.

JK Rowling seems to have a lot to like when it comes to the movies. I had no surprises sent my way when she said that she liked Cuaron's outcome. In fact, I recently read that she either suggested or had choses Cuaron to direct "Azkaban" because she saw his other movie "A Litle Princess" and liked what he did with that picture. I REALLY can't wait to see the movie now!

Of course she's going to say she likes it, and how it hints to the future storyline!!!
Translation:
Go PAY and see it more than once to see if you can find the clues. Or you could rent or buy the DVD when it comes out and that would make more money too.

This is just so exciting all around! Clearly we're all excited, but the closer we get, aaaaaaaaahh! I could almost pee my pants with anticipation! Except that would be really gross.
