J.K. Rowling gave a video interview
to Reuters in which she discusses Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban being the best movie so far. This interview expands on her comments previously posted
from USA Today where she credits Alfonso CuarĂ³n with everything and says that Prisoner was the easiest book to write.
An excerpt from the video:
"Nobody who's read the books is going to be at all disappointed, he has taken essentials, and I'd be very surprised if people didn't find their favorite parts in that film."

I thought that the movie was very cool b/c Alfonso didn't feel that he had to directly follow everything in the book... That made the movie better and more exciting, not that Chris Columbus didn't do an awesome job as well. The movie flowed very well and it definitely didn't feel as long as it was.

I guess it was the easiest to write because she had everything laid out. I think that visually, POA has been the best movie so far. But when it comes to really telling the story in detail, COS was the best. But I love all of the films! So, it doesn't really matter.

I can't believe that PoA was the easiest for her to write! Maybe because it was so short and then she got into the larger books? Or maybe because there was some history in there? Hmmmmm...

I'm sure glad you got to vent, Tahnie. The sad thing is that I am forced to agree with most all of what you said. In regardes to Padfoot18, I know that a six hour long film just isn't going to happen, but if it did, I would be there. There are many restraints placed on producing a movie. However, there isn't on releasing a DVD. That's why I can't understand why extended versions of these films aren't released. Not just as an add-on to a second disk

Wow, Tahnie... you sure are mad. I found the third movie to be the only good one thus far. The first was alright. The second... how do you say... sucked? This was the only one that MIGHT have been able to survive as a somewhat decent movie apart from the books. Cauron did a WAY better job the Columbus did-- those movies were just flat out bad. I think people need to remember... these are movies... separate entities from the books. You simply cannot recreate a book on film and allow it to keep its being intact. It just doesn't happen. The only movie I have ever seen that did very well adapting from a book was Fight Club. An amazing book and an amazing movie.

Tahnie you are right about everything you said I totally agree with you.I really didn't like the film I was sitting watching it and I felt that someone stabbed me with a knife or somethig.I had the urge to go and kick the screen with my shoes and keep shouting.
That new guy Alfonso toatlly screwed everything!!!!!I mean it when I say everything.
He like summarized the whole 317 pages in 10 pages.I really hate him he's the only one 2 blame for the mess that happened.Cause everything else was great the cast did a great job.
And I can't believe that Rowling actually liked the movie.

The movie was good, but I just didn't think it was the best ever. I'm still really glad I saw it though, but I just didn't think it was as good as the first two, but I can't wait for the 4th movie because it is my favorite book out of the series. I think that's why so many people liked this movie the most because it was their favorite book and they just overlooked all the stuff in the movie.

The film was really good but not the best in my opinion. It could have been much better.Really hated the part when Harry got his firebolt at the end of the movie which is NOT in the book and there was hardly any quidditch at all.But still a good movie and much better than GOF.

My favourite part in the movie was the transformation of Professor Lupin. Ever since I'd read the book, I was looking forward to seeing it happen on screen.
And what a fabulous scene it was!
