The audio version of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix read by Jim Dale has won an Audie award
at the annual audiobook award ceremony held earlier this month in Chicago. The winner was chosen by a team of 100 judges who selected the winners after reviewing 525 audiobooks released from Nov. 1, 2002, to Oct. 31, 2003.
Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix edged out a full-cast audio collection by nearly 400 Shakespearean actors, including Joseph Fiennes and the late Sir John Gielgud to win the award, which is equivalent to an Emmy or Grammy in the book world.

Not surprising at all. Jim Dale has done (and continues to do) an absolutely fantastic job with the HP audio books! We have all five now and have enjoyed them greatly!

I must admit i have never purchased/listened to an audio version of the books before, but it must be good if its won an award! Number 1 out of 525 other audio books! Now that shows it must be good! Well on the people who made it, and may their future audio books of Harry potter do just as well :)

I have listened to both the Jim Dale and Stephen Fry versions and, I may be biased, but I much prefer Stephen Fry! When it comes to HP the more British it is, the better I think :) But anywhose well done to Jim Dale!

Nice!! I liked hearing the book... although have not listened to the whole thing. He does a good job at describing the story and reading all the different voices. It is always interesting to hear the different accents and pronunciation he does. I am glad to see him getting noticed.

I have never thought of purchasing the books on audio - there seems to be a wide fan base out there for these! I wonder how listening to a book read on CD would affect the way I heard the book play out as I read it...
