The recent news that the title of book six would be Harry Potter and the Pillar of Storgé have been floating around the Web for a few days, but author J.K. Rowling has confirmed
what many fans have suspected all along - that the rumors about the title were a hoax.
According to her spokesperson the title is "definitely a hoax" and now Rowling has updated her site
with her take on the rumor, as well as answered some frequently asked questions people have sent her -- check out the FAQ & Rumours section.
In her own words:
I am trying very hard not to feel offended that anyone thought this was possible. 'Storgé', for crying out loud. Come on, people, get a grip.
Also, thanks to MuggleNet
for letting us know that the 'Do Not Disturb' sign has been removed from the door and it opens to reveal a brick wall
-- will hitting the right sequence reveal something (like the real title to book 6)? Go and see!
If you just can't wait, highlight the following text to read the secret text: Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince.
New: Read our exclusive interview with the man behind the Storgé hoax.

Yes, it does! If you click the bricks in a certain order, it reveals Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince.
I've never been more tantalized than this...

I was wondering why she would make a titleof a book that way. (the rumor title)I think maybe someone said that the rumor title was the real title so she would come out with the actual title. Its good to know what the real title is.

Well, I will have to go and see that for myself. I knew that title and note were wrong. Since the site was hacked before, I assumed they would be a bit more careful

I can definately see how halfblood would connect to Chamber of Secrets, but how does it connect to Order of the Pheonix? Didn't she say that it had to do with those two books?

I'm a little disappointed, I mean, that was our only rumor to go on, and now we have nothing to contemplate. Except, of course, the opening of the door...

Rowling sounds as if she's getting a little angry with the fanatic...well...fans. hehehe She sounds a bit irritated, doesn't she. Does anyone know what "storge" means? Poor J.K.R.

I don't think she likes fans playing pranks on each other at such a frenzied level. I didn't think it sounded like a real title since it doesn't really follow the other ones. Be interesting to know the real title when it does come out! I didn't notice you could click bricks... I'll have to try that.

half blood prince....that sounds cool.... rdotsy..that was the false rumour that said the title connected to both...she didn't write that one. so the half blood prince doesn't neccessarily connect to both titles. That is cool though... haha took me about 53 tries cause i wrote out all the 120 possible combo's..... yea there are only 5 bricks

I thought that "Pillar of Storgé" sounded a little funky. "Storgé?" Now what is this "Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince" you guys are talking about? Is this another vicious rumor to set fire to the HP fandom again?
I think I'm going to lay off the gossip circuit and wait to hear the answers from J.K. Rowling's own mouth-- she would want it that way, I think. ;P

hmmm.... Well I will believe it when she confirms it. Frankly that seems like an even more unlikely title,, but who knows for sure. In the mean time it is interesting to see all these rumored titles floating around. It makes it feel like book 6 might be here before we know it...

This could be another one of JKR's tests...to spark our curiousity. I will not believe anything until JKR herself is directly quoted as saying the title. I don't know what to think of the new title, the first chapter is supposed to be one from the SS not Chamber of Secrets, so why would the title be there now that was going to be for CoS? I am still skeptical.

People who have trouble getting the title use the picture of the wall found on mugglenet.com. There are five bricks. The sequence: topmost right, bottommost right, the one below the highest brick, the lowest, the highest. Then when you get to the room, click on the fan on the table.
