Book 6 title confirmed by JK Rowling Popular (66295)

It's official. The title of book 6 will be Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince according to author J.K. Rowling, who officially confirmed the name of book 6opens in new window under the News section of her Web site:

Well, the door opened at last and I showed you the title of book six - the genuine title, the title that will appear on the published book, the title I have been using in my head for ages and ages. Unfortunately, however, the door opened on the very same day the 'Pillar of Storgé' hoaxer struck, which left a lot of Harry Potter fans bemused as to whether I was having a joke at their expense by posting another fake title to 'teach hoaxers a lesson', something I certainly wouldn't do, as it would simply frustrate, confuse or annoy the 99.9% of you who aren't hoaxers! I tried to give a clear hint that the title behind the door was the real one by making the 'Toenail' joke as well (see 'Rumours'). But just to clear up matters once and for all…

Information you take directly from this site will be truthful and accurate (I might occasionally joke, but as time goes on, you'll learn to tell when I'm joking). Do not trust anybody else claiming to have found information on this site that you cannot access, however seemingly convincing the images they provide to support their story.

I never post information on the site that I do not want fans to read immediately. In other words, anybody claiming to have 'discovered' a message that wasn't due for release yet is lying. There was never anything meaningful behind the door until the 'Do Not Disturb' sign came off!

Read the rest of what she has to say, including who this "Half Blood Prince" might be (or definitely isn't).

Ok, "AngelaVB11" am sorry to say that Lily Evan is a muggle-born not a muggle herself, therefor Harry is a pureblood.

And I am also happy to see that someone thought of Draco, as well.

ok, ok. So even though Lily was witch and James was wizard, that doesn't make Harry a pureblood? I always thought it did. I'm confused now!!!

Cool name for a title. I'm glad that Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince is the real title and not another fake one!

Actually that line of Seamus' about being "half-and-half" is from Sorcerer's Stone (Philosopher's Stone), not Chamber of Secrets. He says it as they are all sitting down to the first feast after they've been sorted.

Sorry "Artemis Silvermoon", but Harry is not a pureblood. Go reread OTP when Dumbledore is explaining the prophecy to Harry. Dumbledore states that Voldemort did not pick the pureblood, Neville, but instead chose Harry.

"Artis Silvermoon" I don't get it!!! how can you be muggle born and still be not a pureblood and marry a wizard and your kid is suddenly a pureblood!!! It just doesn't make sense. I don't get it!! I mean, hermione's not a pureblood and because her her parents are muggles. Harry's mother was a muggle and turned into a witch so that means she was not a pureblood, so how can she have a child that is a pureblood??? I mean that just doesn't make sense heredity wise.

Wow. Finally. I'm not totally sure that I like the name that much. But it does raise some questions. I cant wait for the book. My crazy guess is that Dudley has something to do with this because wasn't there a whole bunch of stuff going on with Petunia in one of the books? I need to reread OotP. Anyways, anybody find anything interesting on JK's site, because I look but I don't find anything? And what's with those bricks...?

Yes, I just found out last night when I figured out the brick pattern on J.K.'s official web-site. It was really neat to find out, and a lot of people are thinking that Hagrid would be the half-blood prince.

IlliriahRising says:

From what it says in the books it has always seemed to me that "pureblood" meant that your family had had no intermarrying with muggles or muggleborn wizards period and marriages were kept strictly between wiches and wizards who come from fully magical families.

Harry's mother is muggleborn-the only wizard/which to have been born into a non-magic family. Therefore she does not have purely wizard blood since her parents were muggles. Even if James' family had been purebloods by marrying Lily he "sullied" the lien so to speak. And since Lily's blood is partly muggle so is Harry's.

Right? This is nearly as confusing as figuring out that whole second cousin or 1st cousin once removed thing...oy!

I thought she might be joking about this title, too, but I guess not. I've heard that it might refer to voldie, but if we had to place bets, my guy instinct was that its Mark Evans... hmm...

Is there anybody who can tell me how to come behind the bricks on JKR's site?

To get through the bricks:
Go to the one on the right that's by itself then at the bottom two, hit the upper one. Then go to the top two and hit the lower one. Then go to the bottom two and hit the lower one. then go to the last one on the top, which should be the upper one.

Does that make since?

I really like this title! It just sounds like a great book. Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince was what JK Rowling originally wanted to call the second book, but it didn't tie in with story when it was finished. I read on an other site that JK also comfirmed that the Half Blood Prince is not Harry or Voldemort. Now the only thing we need to know is when is book 6 being released!

IlliriahRising says:

Artemis Silvermoon ,

To be a pureblood you must come from a family that is totally magical-no intermarrying with muggleborns or muggles. Harry's grandparents are muggles, therefore his blood is not pure wizard, therefore he is not a pureblood.

Presumably, Draco is a pureblood because his famiy has had NO intermarrying EVER with anyone who was a muggle or born of muggle parents.
Does that make sense?
