The John Williams Fan Network is citing two "very reliable" sources in their report
that the composer may not be able to score Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire due to scheduling conflicts:
According to one of the sources (someone very close to the composer), Williams might write the score for Memoirs of a Geisha. Both Harry Potter 4 and Geisha are scheduled for release in Fall, 2005.
The film rights to Memoirs belong to director Steven Spielberg, who often collaborates with Williams. If that's Spielberg's next project, Williams may be too busy for Potter, although "things might change in the coming months," reports JWFan.net. Sad news, considering Goblet of Fire is reportedly going to be the most expensive movie ever made.

But...but.. he has to do the Goblet of Fire. He has done an awesome job on the other 3 movies. And he's perfect for them. I really hope that he can do GOF.

Williams was perfect for scoring the Potter Franchise and its a loss for him not to come back for Goblet of Fire, but i Hope they find a Good replacement, "double trouble" was really perfect for Prizoner of Azkaban.................

Why can't he do both Memoirs and GOF? Either way, he will be in the winning situation. More money for him.
Maybe he can't do it because of artistic reasons, oh well...why????

Well, I'll wait to hear from him. Sometimes you can't even trust the most reliable source.
If he does decide not to do it, I wonder who the replacement will be?

Hey people! I'm new here.
I'm really sad to hearing this. John Williams is awesome! I'd just love PoA soundtrack. It's not fear, I don't want another composer for Harry Potter! Hope it's not true.

He is a great composer. The article said he might not, but he might as well. There are plenty of other good composers out there as well, and with the popularity of the movies, I'm sure that who ever scores it will be amazing. I just wish I could be part of the orchestra that performs it.

I like John Williams' music for HP films but have no reaction to this whatsoever. I wonder what kinda music they'll have now for the films. It'd be hot if they had regular, non-intrumental music for the film. That would make an interesting soundtrack...but I KNOW that's never gonna happen so...*sulks*

It just one be the same without John Williams. But it would be interesting to hear another composer's point of view on how the score should sound.

I'll be really upset if he doesn't do the music for the movie but it's not his fault. The music won't sound just right and I won't be purchasing the soundtrack if he doesn't.
