The John Williams Fan Network is citing two "very reliable" sources in their report
that the composer may not be able to score Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire due to scheduling conflicts:
According to one of the sources (someone very close to the composer), Williams might write the score for Memoirs of a Geisha. Both Harry Potter 4 and Geisha are scheduled for release in Fall, 2005.
The film rights to Memoirs belong to director Steven Spielberg, who often collaborates with Williams. If that's Spielberg's next project, Williams may be too busy for Potter, although "things might change in the coming months," reports JWFan.net. Sad news, considering Goblet of Fire is reportedly going to be the most expensive movie ever made.

That sucks. I really like him doing Harry Potter. I hope they don't change the theme song that'd suck. I kind of hope he squeezes GoF in.

John Williams is in such demand! Who is the director of "Geisha"? Might be one of his favorites - John does like to write for specific people!
I will miss his music in GoF if it comes to that. I home something can change in the scheduling so that John can do both films. You do have to admire the guy for not compromising the integrity of his work by taking on too much!

John williams does amazing work. Just breathtaking coming from a bonafide band geek...this is an absolute tragedy. He HAS to do this film score. =( It would be like losing Dan or Emma...

man....I like John williams. His movie music is the best out there. He did all of the great ones. If they're not going to use him I think they should use Howard Shore, (LOTR composer).

No! I love john williams! Im in band so I play his music all the time! The biggest bummer about this is if it doesnt work out and he can't score The Goblet of Fire the new composer can't use the same theme. You know the basic harry potter theme that sounds like its played on bells? Well he owns that and the new person cant use it. It happened with Shrek (I saw the "making of" special on HBO)
