Extremely reliable sources have told The Leaky Cauldron
that British actress Miranda Richardson has been cast to play Rita Skeeter in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.
Ms. Richardson has recently finished filming The Phantom of the Opera which is being released in December 2004 and is widely known for being in such films as The Hours, Get Carter, The Crying Game and Sleepy Hollow.
This of course is just a rumor as it was reported earlier this year in an interview in Now! magazine that Rosamund Pike had been cast in the role.
Once we receive official confirmation from Warner Bros. we will let you know.

Sorry, I just REALLY wanted the right person to play Rita. Thank God it isn't that one woman they were considering. *shudders* She was not right at all.

If this is true she will be a great Rita! I've seen much of her work and she can play this type of character perfectly. I hope she is in fact the one cast for the role. I'm so pleased with the cast they've chosen for GoF. I think this is going to be the best Harry Potter film yet!

She's appeared in some good movies. I've seen the TV version of "Merlin" but I don't remember her because it was so long ago --- the only person I remember is Sam Neill who played Merlin. "The Prince & Me" was alright, I only really saw it out of boredom but it wasn't bad. She's really pretty in that movie & a great actress because until now I thought she was a Danish actress!

I am not familiar with Ms. Richardson. However, from her biography, she appears to be the perfect choice. She should do a rather fine job, as in the past, the casting has been outstanding.
