She answers questions about Arthur Weasley (Ron's dad), Tom Riddle (the future Voldemort) and what is the relation between Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (book 2) and the upcoming book six.
Why are some people in the wizarding world (e.g., Harry) called 'half-blood' even though both their parents were magical?
The expressions 'pure-blood', 'half-blood' and 'Muggle-born' have been coined by people to whom these distinctions matter, and express their originators' prejudices. As far as somebody like Lucius Malfoy is concerned, for instance, a Muggle-born is as 'bad' as a Muggle. Therefore Harry would be considered only 'half' wizard, because of his mother's grandparents.
If you think this is far-fetched, look at some of the real charts the Nazis used to show what constituted 'Aryan' or 'Jewish' blood. I saw one in the Holocaust Museum in Washington when I had already devised the 'pure-blood', 'half-blood' and 'Muggle-born' definitions, and was chilled to see that the Nazis used precisely the same warped logic as the Death Eaters. A single Jewish grandparent 'polluted' the blood, according to their propaganda.

I always knew in the back of my head that Riddle wasn't the prince but i kept on thinking it and i really thought arthur was going to be the minister from ron joking about it and the house cup! At least that is settled now.

Oh No! I dunno if anyone else noticed this already, sorry, Cheeser, but 115 posts are too many to wade through, but the way she answered the question about Arthur, "Alas, No!" leads me to believe that... gulp... he's a dead man walking. I just hope we don't lose ::eyes open wide:: all the weasley's mrs weasley saw dead...

Darn, I was hoping Arthur would be minister... we'll just have to wait and see now. As far as Riddle being the HBP, I didn't think it would be him... I'm glad JK cleared up the air about lily's parents really being muggle. so that must mean our thoughts about petunia are really off too.

Darn, I wanted Mr. Weasley to be the new minister! So, who will it be, then? Amelia Bones, maybe? I don't know.
Well, now that Tom Riddle's out, I have absolutely NO clue who the HBP might be. But I can't wait to find out!
And I've seen the charts JK was talking about. The Death Eaters always reminded me of Nazis. It's unbelieveable how people can be so terrible.

I am pondering the thought that Hagrid is the Half Blood Prince. We know for sure that he is half giant/half wizard. We don't know much about his father other that he was a kind wizard.

Well, I wasn't expecting either of them to be anything. I expected Harry to be minister, but JK already said he wouldn't. ANd I thought the Half-Blood Prince would be Lupin.

I think it would have rocked if Arthur would've been MoM but otherwise I'm unsure who'd they place. As far as Tom is concerned with the HBP I'm not worried.

Wait does this just mean that Arthur won't be MoM in book 6, or does it mean at all? We were confused about that. I was so sure he would be the next MoM, he would make such a good one.

Everyone posting here have such interesting ideas about plot twists! Wow! I originally missed the quote about Lily's "grandparents"-- typo- or clue? I also wish Arthur would get the MoM job, but didn't think he would--not yet anyway. GoPotter2004 pointed out JK's answer about Arthur's possible appointment to the job as "Alas, no", thinking that Arthur might be JK's next victim. I agree with someone else's post--I hope she doesn't have to kill off any other characters. Wishful thinking on my part, I guess, as the wizarding world just entered another war.
I still think the HBP is Peter Pettigrew (have since the book title came out), but have no conclusive evidence to back my theory. The more I read your posts, the more I lean toward Hagrid or Gryffindor.

Oh my, what did we ever do before Jo launched her fabulous website? She is so good to us sometimes, I'm not sure if we deserve answers to these questions.
I would have loved to see Mr. Weasley become the MOM, but I knew it was wishful thinking. Hopefully the new MOM will be able to use his Muggle expertise in the future.
As far as the whole HBP/COS connection - it makes my brain hurt just thinking about it. As much as I want to figure it out, I think I'll just wait to learn who it is until the book comes out.
Thanks, Jo, if you're reading this for keeping us so up to date!

I'm happy that tom riddle isn't the halfblood prince because i think it's better when there is a new enemy.
and it would change many things about ron if his dad would be the minister of magic. his family would be richer.
hope JKR knows soon when the book will be finished.

Mmm... a discovery he made in the COS... Other than he discovered the sword, he could speak parseltongue, the Godric Gryffindor's sword, the route to the Slytherin's domitories, the chamber itself and that the Malfoy's kept their valuable Dark Arts stuff in the chamber under the drawing room, i don't remember him discovering anything else... Anybody have any more ideas?

I had forgotten about the sword! Remember the rumour that Harry is the heir of Gryffindor due to him living in Godric's Hollow and so forth, well she did say that it could have been a title for the second book. But JK said that Harry is not the prince... I am confused. And about the first chapter being one of the possible first chapters for the first book, well some clues and hints about what the first chapter in PoS was going to be are on JK's site - I saw them ages ago. Something about an island and Mr Weasley...?
