Two of Tom Riddle's prop diaries used in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets have sold on eBay in a private auction for over $4,000 combined.

An "Original Tom Marvolo Riddle Diary"opens in new window received an opening bid of $1,700 but went to the winner (and second bidder) for $2,125. A "special effects" editionopens in new window, which featured tubes that squirt black ink through the cover, was purchased for $1,900 using eBay's Buy it Now feature, which caused the auction to close early.

The two books were used during various filming of the second Potter movie in 2002.

Wow that's a lot just for a diary! They're selling sleeping bags used in POA too. People are betting lots of money for these items.

I think that they deserve the price they were sold for,I know their pricy but thats HP were talking about....
I completly disagree with u guys
If I had this amount of money I would have bought them without any hesitation and I know I won't regret it later

Wow! That's a lot of money just for a diary.... You would think something bigger would go for $4,000, like a costume or something. I would do anything for one pair of the Trio's robes!

But anyways, I can't believe that a diary would go for that much!

All I can say is that I wish I had enough money to blow on a prop from harry potter. I still think that thats way too much money to spend on props. But it would be the best feeling in the world to have something that dan himself touched!

Thats a lot. I hope that money went to charity or something, because if those people can deserve to be some silly props, they should be donating to charity big time. I'm as big HP fan as anyone else, but thats a lot of mula.

That's a little bit absurd. How can you buy a diary with nothing in it! I mean, they used it in movies is not written or anything. And excuse me,but two thousands of $??? That's outrageous!I would never pay that, surely they don't have something to waste their time.

Very strange. It's not like it was used a lot, anyway. Just a random prop. Well, of course, it was important to the plot, but ... strange.

This is reminding me of when the fourth book came out and my friend and I dressed up as people for the costume party [we were practically the only ones dressed up] and I was Ginny. I had taken this little rosie o'donnell joke book from a long time ago and put a book cover on it that said "T.M. RIDDLE". Hahahaha and we didn't even get prizes.

:(

Anyway. Very strange, and the special effects one sounded messy. But if I somehow gotten the ink-spurting one, I would have loved to leave it on the kitchen table and try to freak out my brother. But that's just me.
