It's official.
Jo Rowling's Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince will reach bookstores in the United States, Canada, Australia and Britain on July 16, 2005.
The press release
, issued jointly by English-language publishers Scholastic and Bloomsbury, says the opening chapter has been "brewing" in the author's mind for 13 years. Mary GrandPré will illustrate the U.S. edition once more. The price will be $29.99.
Order of the Phoenix, the fifth and most recent book, was released June 21, 2003 and was the fastest-selling book in history. Half-Blood Prince will be the sixth in Rowling's seven-part series.
BBC reported that Bloomsbury's stock soared after news of the announcement to an all-time high. CBBC Newsround reports that since some bookstores may open at midnight in the UK, fans there could get the book a few hours early than their U.S. counterparts.

I loved this date and I will tell you why. I am going to Spain on the 8th of July and I get back at Midnight or the start of the day on the 16th! This means I can go straight to ASDA (superstore in UK) and buy it! I'm well chuffed (happy). I hope we can have lots of threads on this when it is released. I would so love to review it in advance. It is like an all time dream!

Anyways, I'm going to get the book at Borders or Barnes and Nobles. At midnight. I'm probably going to arrive at like 6 pm... If my parents allow it, maybe 6 am.

Please don't explode, that would be rather messy! And you wouldn't get to read the book if you exploded either. So, generally, it might be better to wait until you've read book 7 (now that WILL be exciting! not that 6 isn't, just that 7 is the last and everything...) before popping.

Oh my gosh, this is it, I can't believe it. It was like 4 a.m. when I was about to sign off the internet when something caught my eye, this announement! When I heard that Tuesday morning was the morning, I stayed up as much as I could, and it was totally worth it! I found out the very moment it came out, and I couldn't be more happy! Am the first to post, cause that definitely is a first for me. Mark your calenders, everyone! July 16 is the day, which i loved cause there 16 is my favorite number, and now it's more of a favorite to me now! Yes! Before we know it, Half-Blood Prince will be in our hands!
