British tabloid The Mail on Sunday
states in article today that Katie Leung, the 17-year-old Scottish actress playing Cho Chang in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, has become "a hate figure for obsessive fans" on the Internet.
In the article titled Harry Potter and the Poisoned Chalice the author goes on to say “cores of fake websites have sprung up, some apparently giving her thoughts and feelings in diary form. There are photographs purporting to be of Katie, and many are of obviously older, more experienced girls in revealing poses. Most disturbing are several 'hate Katie' sites where youngsters are encouraged to explain in graphic detail why they loathe the dark-haired beauty."
Katie’s father is quoted as saying:
I have seen these sites. I have looked at every one of them. It is rather frightening when you see things like "hate Katie." It is incredible, really. I can't make sense of it, although I know how popular Harry Potter is. Katie is only 17 and hasn't even appeared on film. No one knows her, has seen her or heard her speak, yet there are all these things on the Internet. Unfortunately I know she has seen them, too. She reads them all and it is a great pressure on her. With these websites, I cannot even think what may happen when the film eventually comes out. In a way I'm dreading it. She's been told she mustn't give interviews or speak to anybody until the producers say it's time. It's all happened so fast.

Well, that kind of behaviour is worrying. The poor girl has done nothing wrong, and even if she had there is no reason to mate 'hate Katie' websites. These should be deleted.
I hope she gets through this okay.

HMM.... Thats really weird I have never hear dof those sites before but I don't like the idea of them... I might expect those type of sites after the movie came out or if there was more news about her but so far there has been none... oh well.

She did not decide how the character of Cho Chang would evolve. I am sorry that people are attacking her personally. If you are one of those on the attack, you should be ashamed of yourself. Try putting yourself in her shoes for one moment. If you want to attack the character, then you are attacking JK. do you really want to do that???

Mind you, that if I were in her shoes, that I would think this is completely unfair. And I would hope that most of those over zelot Potter fans would come to the realization that just because she acts as Cho on the screen dosen't mean that she is Cho.
Keep fighting through it all Katie! You'll make it through.

It's rather like what happened to Hermione in GoF, when Rita Skeeter was saying she dumped Harry! That's good writing when things that happen in a story reflect real human nature, or vice versa.

That's really unlucky for her. Imagine becoming a really famous actor and on your first film all that happens is that you get booed and there are even websites about people hating you.
