British tabloid The Mail on Sunday
states in article today that Katie Leung, the 17-year-old Scottish actress playing Cho Chang in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, has become "a hate figure for obsessive fans" on the Internet.
In the article titled Harry Potter and the Poisoned Chalice the author goes on to say “cores of fake websites have sprung up, some apparently giving her thoughts and feelings in diary form. There are photographs purporting to be of Katie, and many are of obviously older, more experienced girls in revealing poses. Most disturbing are several 'hate Katie' sites where youngsters are encouraged to explain in graphic detail why they loathe the dark-haired beauty."
Katie’s father is quoted as saying:
I have seen these sites. I have looked at every one of them. It is rather frightening when you see things like "hate Katie." It is incredible, really. I can't make sense of it, although I know how popular Harry Potter is. Katie is only 17 and hasn't even appeared on film. No one knows her, has seen her or heard her speak, yet there are all these things on the Internet. Unfortunately I know she has seen them, too. She reads them all and it is a great pressure on her. With these websites, I cannot even think what may happen when the film eventually comes out. In a way I'm dreading it. She's been told she mustn't give interviews or speak to anybody until the producers say it's time. It's all happened so fast.

that is soo mean, i reckon people who hate her are all just jelous for no apparent reason, maybe she might no look exactlay like cho, but who cares? If shes good at acting then that's all. She's only 17! I hope katie isnt upset by these mindless fools. Take harry potter, he looks the part but cant act at all.

Silly little girls. Stop obsessing about Harry, Rupert, Tom, (Emma) and everyone. There will come a time when you look back and think "How could I have been so stupid as to hate someone just because she kisses one of my favorite actors." I hope Katie does well, she looks strong, beautiful, and fully capable of being a really good actress. Good for her!

I mean, its just a movie and she's just playing the part of Cho Chang and isnt actually Cho ( cause if you haven't noticed, cho chang is not real, but just a fiction character) and all who hate her are very obviously jealous and plain dumb and big babies. So if you're reading this Katie, just ignore all those idiots out there and never give in, cause that's what they'll enjoy.

All right people, it's just a movie! I'm not crazy about all the choices they've made for the movies--there's no way they could ever compare to the books! But honestly, she's just a girl who played a part in a movie! Some people are really losing touch with reality here. Harry's world is a wonderful journey for us and a fun escape from daily life, but the books and movies and all that goes along with it can't compare to the true experiences we are all capable of having in the real world. Let's this poor girl have her life and let's make the best of our own!

It seems to me that these so called 'fans' of Harry Potter need to get a grip on reality, and realise that if they like the films they should support the actors and actresses rather than insulting them and calling them names... how ridiculous. No one can comment on her looks, acting, voice etc yet because the only things we have to go on are two photos that haven't exactly been taken at the best of times. Wait for one when she's not on the phone, and it's actually promotional material, and then make a comment... if you really want to ruin someone's life that is.

she's not exactly how i pictured cho, but i dont HATE her for it, and i certainly wouldnt put any nasties about her on the internet, i mean she's human, i'm sure she knows how to use a computer, what if she heard about it? that would be so horrible! i feel so sorry for her!!!!!!!
