British tabloid The Mail on Sunday
states in article today that Katie Leung, the 17-year-old Scottish actress playing Cho Chang in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, has become "a hate figure for obsessive fans" on the Internet.
In the article titled Harry Potter and the Poisoned Chalice the author goes on to say “cores of fake websites have sprung up, some apparently giving her thoughts and feelings in diary form. There are photographs purporting to be of Katie, and many are of obviously older, more experienced girls in revealing poses. Most disturbing are several 'hate Katie' sites where youngsters are encouraged to explain in graphic detail why they loathe the dark-haired beauty."
Katie’s father is quoted as saying:
I have seen these sites. I have looked at every one of them. It is rather frightening when you see things like "hate Katie." It is incredible, really. I can't make sense of it, although I know how popular Harry Potter is. Katie is only 17 and hasn't even appeared on film. No one knows her, has seen her or heard her speak, yet there are all these things on the Internet. Unfortunately I know she has seen them, too. She reads them all and it is a great pressure on her. With these websites, I cannot even think what may happen when the film eventually comes out. In a way I'm dreading it. She's been told she mustn't give interviews or speak to anybody until the producers say it's time. It's all happened so fast.

Like hello Katie is just the actress that plays Cho, If you don’t like Cho that’s fine but you have no reason to hate Katie!! She is as we all know just doing her job, and I for one would love her job!!!

Wow, the price of fame, right? I feel badly for anyone who is hated, trashed, and lied about, actor or not. It is pretty pathetic that she is an object of hatred. I didn't like her character in the books, she seems so whimpy and wishy-washy, and Harry ends up not liking her anymore, which was nice for me. But I would never make the connection from her character to her real-life personality.
No, she doesn't look like what I pictured her to be, but a lot of things in the HP movies don't match what Jo described. Oh, well. I like the books way better anyway.

Well I haven't seen anything nasty about her on hpana.Anyway if hp fans doing that they should stop.Well i beleave these fans hate malfoy too but they think Tom Felton is hot.And she is just an actress she isn't cho chang..She may not be anything like cho chang..What is the point of hating the actress for they hate the charecter she acts???
I hope that people learn some day to separate the person from the role. Katie is not Cho Chang.
Any way i don't think Cho is a bad person..even though she have done thinks that wasn't pretty nice.but i don't think everyythink harry did was just the think to do.So i don't hate her.And who ever is posting these nasty thing abouyt katie should stop it or they should be considered non hp fans!!

Cho Is one of the characters that I didn't have a very detailed description of in my mind for some reason...so I think that she will be good. I didn't really have anything to picture or judge her against so I was not dissapointed with who they picked.
I can't believe that people are so mean to her! I feel so bad for her! She is just doing a job and all of these people that don't know her and have never seen her act are just trashing her and being awful! I am sure that she will be a great Cho...you just hang in there Katie...and don't listen to anything negative that those people say...they are just jealous!!
