Harry Potter author JK Rowling will read
from her latest book, Half-Blood Prince, at the stroke of midnight July 16, the book's release date, in Edinburgh Castle. It will be broadcast around the world on television and radio, according
to CBBC Newsround.
Attending will be 70 "cub" reporters -- from age eight to 16 -- who won competitions from newspapers around the world. Each will receive a signed copy of the book. The event is dubbed the "Harry Potter Children's Press Conference."
The kids will have a chance to read the book in a special room of Edinburgh Castle before visiting with Jo again on Sunday to ask questions ("grill me," Rowling said in her announcement).
Later that weekend, Rowling will be interviewed by Melissa and Emerson, of fan sites The Leaky Cauldron
and MuggleNet
, respectively. (TLC was also awarded JK Rowling's latest Fan Site Award
, so congratulations to them!)
Finally, the FAQ section
of Rowling's web site was updated with more questions and answers.

Will this be on the news in the us because i want to watch it! I wonder where she is going to start reading from?? I mean the beginning seems logical but she may start reading from the middle somewhere. O well that is up to her now isn't it. Now i am going to go to the JKR website since she finally updated that thing!... She barely ever updates that thing. That means in the U.S. we can listen to Jo reading from Half-Blood Prince a few hours before we can buy it! Sure, it's only a few hours, but... I'll be listening anyway.
I hope there's an update about who'll be broadcasting it. ;)

What a great idea really! I only wish I had known about the various competitions before hand so my daughter could have entered, she would have been so honoured. Oh well, it's still a neat idea though.

I dont think anyones read the report, MORE people will be choosen to go and see Jo on the 16th of July and interview her
"Newspapers from Britain, Ireland, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand and Canada will run competitions from 14th May onwards to select their own reporter. Bookshops and libraries in the UK and Republic of Ireland will also be running a competition."
theres still hope for those who are from other countries and young: SNiFF SNiFF Does anyone have any age potion, I just want to be a few months younger!!! Why do i have to be seventeen, oh well i'll still have the book and i'll read those interviews afterwards
