Harry Potter author JK Rowling will read
from her latest book, Half-Blood Prince, at the stroke of midnight July 16, the book's release date, in Edinburgh Castle. It will be broadcast around the world on television and radio, according
to CBBC Newsround.
Attending will be 70 "cub" reporters -- from age eight to 16 -- who won competitions from newspapers around the world. Each will receive a signed copy of the book. The event is dubbed the "Harry Potter Children's Press Conference."
The kids will have a chance to read the book in a special room of Edinburgh Castle before visiting with Jo again on Sunday to ask questions ("grill me," Rowling said in her announcement).
Later that weekend, Rowling will be interviewed by Melissa and Emerson, of fan sites The Leaky Cauldron
and MuggleNet
, respectively. (TLC was also awarded JK Rowling's latest Fan Site Award
, so congratulations to them!)
Finally, the FAQ section
of Rowling's web site was updated with more questions and answers.

Exciting news...off to check out the updates on the website! It seems like it's been forever since there's been anything added on there. It's wonderful that she doing the "cub reporter" thing. What a wonderful opportunity for those children!

I want to be there toooo! I know, I know I'm a "little" older than those children, but, hey, isn't it discrimination??? *grins* Well, let's see if I manage to convince one of those lucky children to exchange one of their tickets for a bag of All Flavour Beans and a couple of Chocolate Frogs....

That's nice of J.K.R. to read for them. I hope this is taped and shown. I whould really want to hear all the interview questions later. Also the two from The Leaky Cauldron and Mugglenet questions should be good. Please look over each others questions and ask different ones. :)

Cool, it would be great to attend that but since i live half the world away, i don't tjink it's possible. Anyway, i'd like to hear her reading it and also answering some more questions...the new FAQ answers are interesting too, especially the one about Veritaserum and the pure-blood issue that will be touched upon in the next book.

Oh to be young again what a trip it would be.
I'm glad to hear that she is still keeping to her young adiuence even though her writing is growing with the character, for it was they who put her on the map.
