Harry Potter author JK Rowling will read
from her latest book, Half-Blood Prince, at the stroke of midnight July 16, the book's release date, in Edinburgh Castle. It will be broadcast around the world on television and radio, according
to CBBC Newsround.
Attending will be 70 "cub" reporters -- from age eight to 16 -- who won competitions from newspapers around the world. Each will receive a signed copy of the book. The event is dubbed the "Harry Potter Children's Press Conference."
The kids will have a chance to read the book in a special room of Edinburgh Castle before visiting with Jo again on Sunday to ask questions ("grill me," Rowling said in her announcement).
Later that weekend, Rowling will be interviewed by Melissa and Emerson, of fan sites The Leaky Cauldron
and MuggleNet
, respectively. (TLC was also awarded JK Rowling's latest Fan Site Award
, so congratulations to them!)
Finally, the FAQ section
of Rowling's web site was updated with more questions and answers.

I wish she would do something like this for her adult fans.
I would relish such an opportunity.
But it is great that she affords the opportunity to her young fans.

Honestly, I could care less about those EXTREMELY lucky children who get to meet, grill, and hear JK read her newest book. I JUST WANT TO SEE it on tv. The Whole experiance too not just a few minutes. I really want to hear her read her own book.

That's so cool that she will read from her book.
What radio will have her on it anyway?
One that I can listen in on in the US?

I'm really happy for all the kids who get to be there, but I'm still very much jealous. Not that I would be able to speak in the presence of Jo, but to be able to see her and say "Thank you for writing such amazing books," would be unbelievable.

It kind of seems unfair to all of the US children and other children throughout the world to not have this chance to meet JK especially since they have all bought the books and other miscellaneous merchandise as well.
I can bet there are a lot of upset children that can't enter. :(

Wouldnt it be cool to be the first ones to read signed copies of the book and then get to ask JK questions about it to clear up the blanks that many ask her on the official J.K.R. website? It would be a dream come true!
