Harry Potter author JK Rowling will read
from her latest book, Half-Blood Prince, at the stroke of midnight July 16, the book's release date, in Edinburgh Castle. It will be broadcast around the world on television and radio, according
to CBBC Newsround.
Attending will be 70 "cub" reporters -- from age eight to 16 -- who won competitions from newspapers around the world. Each will receive a signed copy of the book. The event is dubbed the "Harry Potter Children's Press Conference."
The kids will have a chance to read the book in a special room of Edinburgh Castle before visiting with Jo again on Sunday to ask questions ("grill me," Rowling said in her announcement).
Later that weekend, Rowling will be interviewed by Melissa and Emerson, of fan sites The Leaky Cauldron
and MuggleNet
, respectively. (TLC was also awarded JK Rowling's latest Fan Site Award
, so congratulations to them!)
Finally, the FAQ section
of Rowling's web site was updated with more questions and answers.

Oooh, God, how I wish I was one of those 70 "junior reporters" who get to go there and interview her!!!!!!!!!....... (but I'm 19 and, anyway, I never wanted to be a reporter ...until NOW!!!)
WHEN will it be "broadcast on television and radio stations all over the world"?? WHEN???
And on WHICH television and radio stations from this big world???
As for the UPDATES of the F.A.Q.Section on JKR's site,....YAY!!! NEW INFO!!!!!! :D :D :D I was getting really anxious for it!!!!!!
About Prongs and The Marauder's Map, I already knew all that she said, as I've figured the explanation myself. (It wasn't hard!)
And I knew about Nicholas Flamel being a historical character.
But I'm very glad I found out more about the Veritaserum potion, and I must say it makes a lot of sense!!!!! -it's just like the Polygraph-Test (Lie-Detector) from our Muggle-world!! ;)
Then, I'm delighted I found out new information about the Pure-Blood families, about the education of Wizards children before going to Hogwarts (or other magical schools) and about Hogwart's song!!!
=D

Wow! I'm so excited that JKR is doing a reading...I pretty much gave up on that hope. I think it's likely that the stores running all of our midnight parties will broadcast it for us as we wait in line to get our books! But, just to be safe, I'll be taping it too!
I think the "cub" reporters will do a great job with the questions for JKR and I'm especially excited for them that they will get to ask her even more questions after they've finished HBP!
As for the new FAQs...I'm starting to think the Malfoys will learn about a non-pure-blood relative and they'll be quite disturbed about it. Perhaps they are in some way related to Hermione? Heehee, that's a bit DIGS, I know!
Melissa and Emerson - congrats on this amazing gig! I wish Jeff and Geri could also be there to ask the questions we have here at HPANA, but I know we'll all be well represented by Melissa and Emerson. Can't WAIT to see what comes out of the interview!!!!!!!

I agree with others, this is really great news on a few fronts. 1) we've finally heard from her - The websites been quiet for a long time. And 2)It is great for the kids who get to go. The one question I had, Why are kids from the US excluded from this contest? Why is the US always missed for these things?? It seems a bit discrimanatory!
