Harry Potter author JK Rowling will read
from her latest book, Half-Blood Prince, at the stroke of midnight July 16, the book's release date, in Edinburgh Castle. It will be broadcast around the world on television and radio, according
to CBBC Newsround.
Attending will be 70 "cub" reporters -- from age eight to 16 -- who won competitions from newspapers around the world. Each will receive a signed copy of the book. The event is dubbed the "Harry Potter Children's Press Conference."
The kids will have a chance to read the book in a special room of Edinburgh Castle before visiting with Jo again on Sunday to ask questions ("grill me," Rowling said in her announcement).
Later that weekend, Rowling will be interviewed by Melissa and Emerson, of fan sites The Leaky Cauldron
and MuggleNet
, respectively. (TLC was also awarded JK Rowling's latest Fan Site Award
, so congratulations to them!)
Finally, the FAQ section
of Rowling's web site was updated with more questions and answers.

Now don't we wish that She read it on July 15th at midnight, I'll miss this because I'll be buying my own copy and reading it myself, and loving every second, seeing whose theory's were right on and which one were far off.

How cool would that be? Those kids will remember that for the rest of their lives. Very cool of Jo to do something like that.
The new FAQs are pretty interesting too. Thanks for the heads up because I checked it last week and wouldn't have looked again until the 1st. I'm glad I can count on HPANA to keep me in the loop.

That is truly marvelous. It's a nice little reminder to the 'adult' media...that the kids are still JKR's most important audience. And good for the youngsters who won.

Aww that rocks for them, but thats no good to us. I really wish we had a person who was going to interview her, it seems like TLC is always in contact with them, more so than HPANA I mean. Oh well, I really hope they do 'grill' jo, and I hope its questions that will help us out with things. I can't wait for the book! I wonder if the questions and answers will be posted on the internet?
