Harry Potter author JK Rowling will read
from her latest book, Half-Blood Prince, at the stroke of midnight July 16, the book's release date, in Edinburgh Castle. It will be broadcast around the world on television and radio, according to CBBC Newsround.
Attending will be 70 "cub" reporters -- from age eight to 16 -- who won competitions from newspapers around the world. Each will receive a signed copy of the book. The event is dubbed the "Harry Potter Children's Press Conference."
The kids will have a chance to read the book in a special room of Edinburgh Castle before visiting with Jo again on Sunday to ask questions ("grill me," Rowling said in her announcement).
Later that weekend, Rowling will be interviewed by Melissa and Emerson, of fan sites The Leaky Cauldron and MuggleNet, respectively. (TLC was also awarded JK Rowling's latest Fan Site Award, so congratulations to them!)
Finally, the FAQ section of Rowling's web site was updated with more questions and answers.

Wow I was kind of disapointed because I thought that Jo was going to read it before July 16. But no big deal it doesn't matter I'm still excited about the book. Also the questions that she answered are pretty good. But im just excited about the book.

Oh my God!! I would pay anything to be one of those reporters. Just to be there and to meet her is awesome. But I guess I will have to contend myself with reading the book all night long.

Oooh, goodee! I really like reading the FAQs on her site. I hope the BBC shows the broadcast live too. It will leave fans with a hard choice though - get the book at 12midnight, or watch the broadcast.

Too bad there's an age limit because I would have looooooooved to enter the competition. JK has fans of all ages so why not do these things for kids as well as adults? Oh well, I'll have fun reading the reports afterwards.
