Tabloid UK newspapers The Sun
and The Daily Mirror
talk about their involvement in yesterday's reported theft of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince and the ensuing events:
The Daily Mirror says they were "approached by a security guard who worked at a distribution warehouse. Burly Aarron Lambert, 19, demanded £30,000 for a sneak look" at the book. The Sun claimed the theif (who they name as Arun) wanted £50,000 and that a gun was fired during their clandestine meeting.
And [Lambert] was soon boasting how he had evaded massive security. "It was very hard," he said. "They've even got foreign contract workers in there so the staff don't know what it's all about. The whole warehouse is on camera - I had to be really careful. I planned it for weeks. They're doing everything they can to stop people getting hold of it. But they couldn't stop me."
With much thanks to DanRadcliffe.com
, we have scans of everything:
Police confirmed last night that Lambert and his 37-year-old accomplice (pictured in that last photo) had been arrested.
JK Rowling has obtained a court order aimed at preventing the men from divulging any content of the book before its release.

"But they couldn't stop me", what slime! You know, I like to think that Harry Potter is a small island amid all early leaks and such. It's a shame that people have to ruin it for their own self-gain.
Disgusting.

I can't believe the legnths some people will go to to obtain a copy of the HBP. It's just unbelievable. Not long now though, why couldn't they just wait like the rest of us? The greedy men! Only 41 days and counting.

Just like Truska said, why would put so much effort into stealing a book when they could just buy it in 41 days? Now those people have criminal records and they probably lost some peoples trust and relationships. 41 days, i just can't wait!!!

I am having a hard time understanding why the reporters aren't in trouble as well. From the article it didn't sound like they were the ones to tip off the police, so how come they are being thanked by Bloomsbury? I bet if they did successfully buy it they wouldn't have turned it over immediately.

I think it's kind of neat what people will do to give us spoilers. On the other hand, its funny because we do want to wait for the book to come out-even when we say that we can't.

It's unbeliverable what people can do. Quite franckly I think it's beginning to go to far, it's not worth it, crime doesn't pay. I hope people will think twice before doing something like this. It's only a book!!!!!!

I am sure that mthere will be more episodes like this one. The anticipation level is amazing, as it has been for each book release. Can you imagine what security there will be around the printers for book seven?
Pure insanity. ^..^

That Aarron Lambert is a punk! 50,000 pounds for a sneak peek!? What an idiot. I wonder if he'll get sued now that J.K.Rowling's firm has filed an injunction against him and his partner in crime.

It is a shame what some people are willing to do to get a sneak peek at the book. I do hope none of the secrets gets out. why can't they just wait for the release of the book like us. Stealing is wrong. I hope they get a lot of jail time for their crimes. The whole thing is sad. The Mirror did do the right thing when they called the police. I don't believe the people at The Sun were just going there to "save" the books. I hope the theifs didn't read the book so they can't sell or tell any thing about the book. I want to enjoy reading the book when it comes out.

What is wrong with people? I sure hope that if another news paper gets the chance to get the book early they'll react the same way as The Sun and The Mirror did and especially NOT print a word from the books in the paper, I don't want them to ruin the book for everyone.
By the way, who else thinks that the picture of Harry looked like a mugshot?
