Tabloid UK newspapers The Sun
and The Daily Mirror
talk about their involvement in yesterday's reported theft of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince and the ensuing events:
The Daily Mirror says they were "approached by a security guard who worked at a distribution warehouse. Burly Aarron Lambert, 19, demanded £30,000 for a sneak look" at the book. The Sun claimed the theif (who they name as Arun) wanted £50,000 and that a gun was fired during their clandestine meeting.
And [Lambert] was soon boasting how he had evaded massive security. "It was very hard," he said. "They've even got foreign contract workers in there so the staff don't know what it's all about. The whole warehouse is on camera - I had to be really careful. I planned it for weeks. They're doing everything they can to stop people getting hold of it. But they couldn't stop me."
With much thanks to DanRadcliffe.com
, we have scans of everything:
Police confirmed last night that Lambert and his 37-year-old accomplice (pictured in that last photo) had been arrested.
JK Rowling has obtained a court order aimed at preventing the men from divulging any content of the book before its release.

What's wrong with this people? We can't wait either and still we have no desires of stealing a copy or get a sneak peek...it would ruin everything we have been waiting for...Anyway,the wait it's almost over....

That is so very pathetic. These guys need to find hobbies. That kid looks like he's had a few too many run ins with steriods, and a serious case of stupidity to top it off. I hope they both go to jail.

What's the point? We fans wanna read the books, but part of WHY we're so interested in the HP series is just awaiting the new arrivals. It wouldn't be half as fun without the wait, right? Stupid people...
Also, I doubt later generations will be so enchanted by Harry Potter... They probably won't even understand what the fuss is about... Yep, it's just one of them 'now' things...

These disturbing details about the stolen book tells me that it is becoming deadly to make sure the Harry Potter novels are not leaked through underground figures. I hope that people could get off their craving when comes to the point where someone could be hurt. Bloomsbury needs to take more precautions against its own employees since thay are the ones closest to the books while they are being published.

It is a shame what people are willing to do to get a sneak peek at the book. I just wish that everyone can just be patient and wait for the release. Enter contests if necessary, but stealing is just plain wrong. I hope the couple gets their just desserts for the crime.

These people would risk their lives for these books. When there's guns involved you know something's not right at the moment. The book is coming out in less than 2 months so it's really weird to see what they've done.

Wow, this is sad. I can't believe the people at The Sun are so pathetic. Does anyone really believe that they were just going there to "save" the books? At least the Mirror called the police! I hope none of the secrets gets out. I actually want to enjoy reading the book when it comes out. Somehow I'm thinking the idiots who stole the book don't have the attention span to read it all the way through, so maybe they don't even know what in it!
Did we know how many pages the book was going to be before this? Or just that is was going to be shorter than OoTP? The Sun revealed that in their article. They obviously checked out the ISBN number ahead of time, too, so they were interested in knowing if it was authentic or not.
I wonder what JKR is feeling right now? Will she put something on her website about it? I keep checking, but I haven't seen anything.
