Jason Isaacs, who portrays Lucius Malfoy in the Harry Potter movies, is becoming more like his character he says. In an effort to remain in character he avoids answering his fan mail, he also comments that he’s enjoyed playing Lucius and that he hopes that he will be in the next movie and that author Rowling continues to write Harry Potter books for years to come.
I'm carefully cultivating an entire generation of people who despise me, because when you're in 'Harry Potter' films you get a lot of fan mail... I haven't answered any of it, so they will hate me even more than they did to start with. They probably spent their pocket money sending me a stamped, addressed envelope. Number four is finished. I'm not signed up for number five; I haven't got a script for [it] yet, but I understand I have some things to do in the book and, if they ask me, then I would be hoping to be in it. Because that is good fun, it's ridiculously good fun to dress up as a wizard ... I hope that [JK Rowling] writes it until Harry Potter is 65 years old and on a walking frame.

I agree. I think JKR should write about Harry until he's old... Unless he *sigh* dies.

Aww. i could never hate jason isaacs. i saw him in peter pan on the extras with his little camera walking around and he just seems like the coolest guy. probably the nicest bad guy i know. but he's doing it to get into to character then i will "hate" him for his character.

He is a little odd, not answering fan mail because he wants people to not like him even more? I dont think many celebrities do actually write back, so I dont think its a big deal. He is definitly a great lucius though, I can say that about him.

Hahaha, this guy really has something for this movie. I'm not surprised that he's doing this. These days actors will try almost anything to keep their character. I don't blame him because now that they have some characters excluded from the movies as we move up in the series it's obvious that he wants Lucius Malfoy to remain there in future movies. That depends on JK if she'll have the character to have more presence in the books, if it doesn't turn out that way then it's Sayonara buddy!

He can write a big "up your's!" on the front of that envelope and simply have someone mark it 'return to sender' and I'll still love the guy =P (...not that I sent any mail of course...hypothetically speaking here...hee hee).
And for the record, they better sign him up for number 5! He has a deliciously evil and rather large part at the end of the book that would be very disappointing if it wasn't in the movie.

I guess I haven't written that many celebrities in my life, but the few I did, I never expected them to actually read it or write back (and they didn't as far as I know) - I'm actually surprised that wouldn't be considered "normal" for Isaacs or anyone else on the crew for that matter.
