In a story reported on earlier we posted that Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire was given a PG-13 MPAA rating in the U.S. This has now been confirmed by Warner Bros.
This is the highest rating
so far for any Harry Potter movie due to sequences of fantasy violence and frightening images.

First to post? YAY!!!! PG-13, well, that is not so surprising, considering the things that Harry has to face in this book.

Yeah the books keep getting scarier and scarier. I hope that my son doesn't get too scared of the graveyard scene. He's already worried about book 6 and what is in the cave.

I'm not surpised that it's PG-13 the kids who read this book in 2000, are no longer 11 and 12 they have grown up and so have the movies. The book and the movie is not for children... especially with the return of LV!

I'm not surprised one bit that it was going to be a PG-13 movie. I mean with the things Harry has to face in the Third Task.

I am so happy that the movie is rated PG-13!! Hopefully it will attract more people my age, they won't have the excuse that it's a "kids' movie." It will probably hurt the box office sales, though..

Before the rating came out, I did think it would be considered PG-13. There is some parts in this movie that could be scary for children.

No way, the books are definitely for children. Sure, adults enjoy them too, but they are first and foremost for us kids. Adults often underestimate children and what they can take. Sure, there's some hand-chopping and border-necromancy in GoF, but the beauty of the story is that even though it's dark, it's not horror-material. Kids can handle it just like any other fantasy, because Harry and good win through in the end.

I think it needs to have a higher rating than the others, it is a much Darker book, and if they made the film suitable for all ages, i think it would not live up to the books standards.

Honestly, I think that's a good rating. They're going to have to tame down all the books if they want to keep them under PG-13. Even GOF is going to be tamer than the book to share that rating. The books are getting darker and scarier; the movies really can't unless they stop caring about money, which is not likely to happen.

I'm glad it got a pg-13 rating. No more pestering loud kids to deal with while watching the movie. yay. The scenes from the 3rd task I think will be more violent. The other movies will probably get the same rating.

That's good considering there are a few scenes in this movie which I would consider violent.

Considering it is the first one where someone dies (ok, we cannot really count Quirrel), I can see it having to have a higher rating. Well, that just means parents will have to take their children, and that isn't a bad thing now is it?

I'm glad to hear it got a PG-13 rating. It is much darker and such, compared to the first three. And they're still sticking with the feel of the books.

I believe it, and I don't think it's that big of a shock. We all knew this would happen eventually. You can't have so make violence and so many deaths in a movie choldren like to watch and keep it a G or PG rating. It's just not possible.

I was surprised, but even more surprised that I didn't see it coming. Obviously it's going to have to be PG-13 with the death and torture. If they knew it was going to turn out PG-13 they should have taken it to the max, haha.

Well, I suppose if there's gonna be a death in it, it's gonna get a PG-13 rating. I guess now a lot of people won't see it because of that rating though. I'm sure the movie will hit a box office record though! So...YAY!

I'm glad to hear that it's going to be PG-13. They would have had to compromise the graveyard scene considerably to keep it PG, and I think that would have ruined it. Seems like the top grossing movies are usually PG-13 anyway. :-)
