Tabloids love exploiting (and paraphrasing and exaggerating) quotes about celebrities to hype up stories and increase readership. Doing so about Harry Potter isn't new, and the Daily Record hit a home run yesterday by claiming
star Daniel Radcliffe is "dreading his naked screen debut" in November's Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.
Jenna from DanRadcliffe.com, from whose interview the Daily Record lifted quotes and based their story, tells it straight:
Just to clarify this mess they've created - At no time was Dan naked or did he say he was for the Prefect's Bath scene. They took a quote from my article and turned it into something it's not.
Not only did they lift quotes from my interview without permission, they did so without giving credit as if it were their own interview... and then took it and twisted it. Yet another reason why none of you should ever put any trust into anything you read in one of these tabloid rubbish liners.

I think that most of the stuff that seems outrages in magazines are mostly false. That's why I don't always believe in that kind of stuff. In my opinion, is better to get all the facts before getting into a conclusion. It's better that way than making a huge mess that latter is hard to fix.

Just like Rite Skeeter, tabloid write what they think people will be interested in reading. If the Headline said "Daniel Radcliffe talks about being naked in GOF" they would sell a lot more papers, because a lot of people would want to read it...only to find out that he wasn't, at any time, naked for his bath room scene, but by then it is too late they have already purchase the paper.

Actually, I was listening to PotterCast recently and Melissa (of the-leaky-cauldron.org) was discussing some new publicity photos that had just been released. One of them was Dan, up to his neck in bubble bath. Melissa said that she's dreading the day when new, more explicit pictures of that appear on the web.
In other words, some idiot is probably going to Photoshop that image eventually. But it will be nice until then. And who goes to those websites anyway?
